I'm about at my end with DU to be honest with you. I used to think that there was a broad enough cross section of liberal types on this board. But it seems more and more like coming here makes me realize why we lose elections and it just depresses me. Everyone has their pet issues and if someone, anyone DARES to not think about it in the exact same way they do with the exact same level of vigor that they do then they spew such invective and hatred at that person. It's starting to remind me of primary season.

But FDR is a non sequitur. Your other post complained that the system runs on money and those with money control the system. Yes, it does, it always has, it always will. The most liberal of our presidents have usually been the richest--FDR, JFK, Jefferson. FDR didn't win with some grass-roots organization, he won with money, and not just his. He solicited contributions, too, and he made concessions to get them.

Except looking at the post counts of those who were the major detractors on that thread convinced me right away that they aren't legit. If they were/are true DUers, they would either not participate in a hatefest, or they would have not been as ballsy as these people are being. Several of them convinced me to put in a call to the right people about their lack of discretion and total lack of committment to the process.

I sincerely doubt the majority of those people are going anywhere but OUT of DU soon, and back over to their little hidey-hole at FR.

I'm sure that my response will just result in more screw you's in my inbox...but I came here after Kerry lost the election because I felt that there was something wrong with the exit polls...I believe in my heart that there was tampering...but the failure of the democratic party to ever really stand up...made me start to wonder if they had something to hide too. It felt like a roller coaster for awhile...with posts "It's going to happen today"....and then nothing happening and I began to feel discouraged. When I actually came out and said that I was feeling discouraged I was called a 'freeper' (I actually never DID figure out what that means) and when I protested that I wasn't a troll people actually wrote f*** you messages to me in my inbox. :wow:

For every 20 posts I made adding information, there was 1 where I said "I'm feeling weary...where is the BBV evidence" or something. I was literally told not to f*** with Bev....later it came to light that she was probably f***ing with us. :evilfrown:

I got tired of the attacks....I'm a pretty liberal democrat but I don't think we all have to agree on every single issue all the time. It's not possible.

I just stopped posting here, though I still occasionally lurk and read. I certainly wish this protest movement success...and I regret that because of how people have acted that I will no longer be a part of it.

When 'W' took our country to war I stood up and protested and remember the outcries from the right that I was unamerican. I even remember O'Reilly saying he would spotlight any protesters that didn't 'get on the team'. Now people here are doing the same thing. I know that you are getting fed up and I can understand. I am too but then I read this from a poster who has 4 posts:

"I've called probably a dozen senators. These include Obama, Kennedy, and Boxer. I also called close to that number representatives. I've heard a lot of "yeah, we are considering it" and "we've gotten a lot of these phone calls. Here in New Mexico a gentlemen from Udall's office was VERY receptive and said that he was passing these messages along almost immediately. I don't know that they are being passed immediately, but from his tone I could tell he was passing messages quickly and really wanted to see something big happen. I also have my best friend in Illinois and my girlfriend calling Senators and Representatives. Just thought I would fill you in. I'm trying folks."

That post negated the shitty posts that I receive every single time I plead for a bit of unity.
