Bordering on contempt for the process, the Bush administration asked a judge to throw out a legal challenge to the election by 37 Ohio voters. The Bush re-election campaign even took the Rev. Jesse Jackson to task for pressing the issue.

All the high-falutin back-and-forth can be boiled down to a voter like Mark Lomax.

The Associated Press recently quoted the 25-year-old in a news report as saying, "In 2000, if Al Gore had just held on and fought to the bitter end, he would have been president. I kind of have the same feeling now -- whether or not you like John Kerry, that's not the issue. It's just that your vote counts."

The Columbus resident, who is black, stood in line for 3 1/2 hours on Election Day, the AP reported. He just wanted his vote to count.

Will a senator see to it that it does?
