Will Pitt's positive spin felt good for a while, certainly helped me recover from the immediate shock and disappointment when not one senator stood up to support Barbara Boxer. So, we've made progress. We opened the conversation. We stopped the electoral process and had our moment of media coverage (although really it was but a second on most of the cable stations except for C-Span). We have some shining stars (Go Barbara Boxer!)- but all in all, where are we? Why didn't any other Democrats stand with her? What could if have hurt? What in the world stopped them? Yes their words were great, yes we cheered each of their speeches, yes there was a "debate" sort of--but why did they not support her even if just to simply say enough is enough? Was it fear? Was a deal that they made (as Randi Rhodes is saying)beforehand? Did they sell out? What happened here?
We have four more years of an illegally elected administration, we have thousands of people who LOST THEIR RIGHT TO VOTE, we have a GOP pig administration who will now spin this as a stupid waste of everyone's time (loved the "Michael Moore Party" comments) and used personal attacks to demonstrate their inability to see this as a non-partisan issue and it feels like 2000 all over again. As a Floridian, I can only share that it actually feels worse now then it did then. And believe me, it sucked then too.
So what's next? Do we take to the streets? Is January 20th the day that we connect all of the groups together for a massive rally (A LA Ukraine) to show the world that this was an illegal election? Will the world ever find out even if we have a few million there?
I'm ready for whatever and by no means ready to let this just get buried under the rug again. Never again. It was fraud damn it and I cannot just let that go.
Any ideas? Anyone else feeling as I do now? I'm trying William Pitt to feel better about this but at this moment, it just feels like we got slapped in the face by the crown court of King George. Was this really a great day of simply a spark of reason in a totally insane world?
Is it too early in the day to start drinking?
