NBC's coverage was actually pretty legit. They had cameras there, talked about history. But they never mentioned Blackwell and the deeper reasons Ohio was such a mess.
ABC was shit - just 20 dismissive seconds from Pete Jennings? WTF!

Out of a total of 245 Democratic members of Congress, only 32 voted to support the challenge. That's only 13% of the Democrats. That IS only a handful.

And this paltry news coverage is the direct result of the ignorance or cowardice of the remaining 87% of congressional Dems. By their opposition to the challenge, those 87% have allowed this election fraud to be swept under the rug, along with the 2000 election theft.

It also increases the probability that Republican dominated courts will be able to rule against challengers, with little fear of public outcry.

The new fascism marches boldly on.

The only thing I liked about CBS this time, was that they never "called" Ohio. They waited until Kerry conceded to call it. They also left NM and IA as white states for awhile. CNN had already called them, but they didn't call them until all the counting was done and recounts, etc., and the state said it was all certified. They really didn't have much choice then, I don't suppose.

I've felt bewildered and disappointed with our political system and our news media before--one recurrent yukko was Reagan's "teflon". Also, Reagan will win, "___ news projects Reagan will carry" (YOUR state), even before the polls had opened, much less after they'd closed.

But anyone who objects to that kind of "journalism" is a "sore loser."

I've done a lot of research on the 1972 and 1984 GOP "landslides." There were a lot of things about them. In '72, it wasn't just Watergate, although that was part of it. There was also Eagleton, (Missouri), Wallace, (Alabama), Bobby, (New York), and Shriver (Maryland). If you think Nixon was going to carry those states without some shenanigans, you're on.

1984: 80,000 quick extra votes in Nevada, police intimidating African-American voters in New Jersey, as well as black ministers there being paid not to give rides to the polls; states called while people were still in line to vote: Illinois, (where Mondale had a lead over Reagan 24 hours before the election), western Michigan, where polls were still open, Georgia, where over half the counties and congressional district were carried by Mondale (in a legitimate vote count), and where an Electoral vote was up for grabs prior to a jet airliner crash in Scotland, Rhode Island and Massachussets, where polling places were shut down early, New Mexico, where Customs was checking i.d. of Latinos at the polls and delaying them getting into line to vote, Ohio (same lines, same gimmicks), New York, where polling places were shut down early in NYC, Maryland, where the Maryknoll nuns, Mondale-Ferraro supporters who were active in the campaign in the state, reported being put "under surveillance" by men in vans due to their opposition to the Nicaraguan Contras, in Iowa, Tennessee, West Virginia, and Delaware, where the power went out for several minutes, no one knew what time it was at the election offices, and many people got out of line and went home due to the delay, Florida, where tens of thousands of absentee ballots were just thrown in the trash after it was determined that Reagan's lead wouldn't have been affected. . .

Talk about a sound bite...St. Louis, Missouri where there were lines around the block when they closed the polls (where have we heard that one before?--errr, since?),
Hawaii, where people were told they weren't accepting any new voters once the networks called the state for Reagan. . .

All I'm saying, is, just because the networks have "CALLED" an election, doesn't mean we HAVE to believe it.

So what if they covered it "once"? That's once more than yesterday. The reason it made the news is that grass-roots America wouldn't drop it. The politicians were ready to drop it two months ago. And they are ready to drop it again. That's their choice.

Politicians can spend two years pointing out how crooked other politicians are in great and gory detail and then decide to kiss and be friends.

And we can decide to stick to our guns. Guess who wins? We don't have to drop it. If we think something is fishy, we can keep saying so as long as we like. At some point, they will have to get off their butts and run around and get in front of us. Because after all, they are our leaders.
