Now we have to decide what we want it to look like, as background, colors, motif/theme... we need ideas throughout the day.

For thosewho dont know yesterday around noon Eastern we started brainstorming the idea of having a similar website to sorryeverybody.com only instead of being sorry being thankful for our new hero(ine)s. Check the threads below for more info.

We want to use this format to bring accolades and attention to those patriots that have done and will do right by us over the next years. We are starting with the vote reformers but anticipate other thank you picture messages pages as our fights evolve.

I like red white and blue as well... and orange! these need to be ironed out here today. Orange has some negative association due to its use by the orangemen in N. Ireland ... or at least I read something like that a while back.

people volunteer their expertise and I pointed them at eachother. Im hoping they are working on it as I write this but I havent heard anything.

and yes any submission comment or pic must be moderated. I expect this site will probably be suffering some serious freeping.

I also think DU should be linked and given props and cred for the idea being started and grass rooted here!

Not sure how feasible this is, but how about needing a userid/password to post on the site, it would be the same as your DU id/password. Suspend new user registration on DU for a few days while people post their messages, and any DU'er that posts garbage will be booted from DU!

Probably not possible, but it would be nice. Or is the idea to let anyone post on the site? If that's the case we're going to get freeped BIGTIME!

I like the idea of using purple and orange, in addition to the traditional red, white, blue. Purple and orange are the 2 colors most associated with this fledgling 'take back the vote' movement. It will distinguish the site from those who already think they own red, white and blue.

Also, I think it's important to reward all behavior that's better than neutral, while of course rewarding behavior MORE to the extent it's, pardon the expression, more better. So, e.g., I think we shd reward all Congressional Dems who spoke up for reform on Jan. 6, even if they voted nay, while providing some special recognition to Boxer, Tubbs Jones and Conyers.

I especially think it would be great to have a page where w/ one click we could use a credit card to contribute $10 or some other amt to each person recognized, for their election/re-election campaigns.

Let me add, ideally, the donations page shd be built with the cooperation of each donee, so that donations charged to donors' credit cards would be credited DIRECTLY to the donee, as if the donation were being made on the donee's own website. Our page would just be a distributive conduit, so I don't have to go to each of say, 30 representatives' separate pages and separately donate to each.

Obviously, this wd only work for donees that have their own sites where donations can be accepted, but they'd have an incentive to make this work.

I believe that if we can pull that off we'll shine an even better light on the site and by obvious extension DU, if people do start piling on the donations the site will obviously become important to the donatees, this could substantially in giving weight to our voices!

Like having to get a user ID with a valid email - some sites only let you get a user ID and posting privileges if your email is from a paid server (Charter, Netscape..etc) versus a free one, which anyone can get without giving valid information. That way there, you can report abuses to a person's server if need be. The server will have that individual's real info on hand, since it is a paid account. There can also be a special feature for those who do not have paid Internet, but mean well and want to leave a positive message. Like: "Don't have a paid account? Click here to post as a guest." Then their comments/submissions can be screened before they are put up.

Some sites have moderators who screen ALL the comments before they appear, which I think is a good idea. (Elizabeth Edward's Cancer Support site has that) There is a little bit of a delay, but that way our beautiful site, which will be a tribute to these brave patriots, will not be tainted with freeper garbage for even a second.
