1. Stop trying to be like Republicans by moving closer to the right regarding religion. Resurrect the concept of accepting all religions as religions and keep all of them out of my government!
2. Find the dynamic speakers. I went with Kerry because I was against Bush but he would never have been my choice for a candidate. We need a hero, prepared to speak out against the many mistakes made by Bush and company. People have stopped listening because there's no one worth listening to that we believe will actually DO anything.
3. Stop lying to us! If you say you will fight for a fair election and see that every vote counts, don't concede on the day after -- knowing there were monumental problems that could be investigated to bring election fraud to light. You could have made history by exposing a wide variety of election problems, forcing attention on election reform, even if you hadn't overturned the election. It was bad enough that no senator stood to contest in 2000 --we could have done it THEN. But that so few stood to contest 2004 was a disgrace. Many of us pledged to work against those who did not stand in their next elections.
4. Remind the masses why the masses have been Democrats throughout history. Review the major differences in party philosophy and appeal to the poor and middle classes again. Explain what Democrats have done for them that Republicans (and particularly this administration) have UNdone.
5. FIGHT! Stop being such pansies when it comes to confrontation. You have lost many of us by appearing to be so agreeable in order to be bi-partisan when, in truth, the Republicans have no intention of caring about your bi-partisanship. FIGHT FOR US!
6. You'd better consider either exposing Rove techniques or getting someone who can fight just as dirty as he does.
7. Get some young, fresh faces in there! For me and my generation to watch CSPAN and see the number of old, rich white men making all the rules is sickening. How can you represent us when you don't look anything like us? More minorities -- more women -- more people who can relate to 21st century problems and situations. I know you don't want to hear this but you need to consider TERM LIMITS for congresspeople. If the President is limited --why do the congresspeople go on and on and on and on... until they can barely stand and speak without shaking apart at the seams?
8. Embrace some of the platform ideas of The Green Party and others, especially those that include warnings against the corporatization of America and the silencing of true investigative journalism. Expose this neocon admin for exactly what it is!
9. And last, review these definitions because it appears you have forgotten that this can happen anywhere and it's happening here - now. Realize that many of us, and many other countries are beginning to define the government here in these terms:
Fascism noun
a political system based on a very powerful leader, state control and extreme pride in country and race, and in which political opposition is not allowed
http://dictionary.cambridge.org/define.asp?key=28083&dict=CALDDefinition
The word fascism has come to mean any system of government resembling Mussolini's, that
exalts nation and sometimes race above the individual, uses violence and modern techniques of propaganda and censorship to forcibly suppress political opposition, engages in severe economic and social regimentation, engages in corporatism, i.e. merges state with corporate power.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fascism#DefinitionFascism, modern political ideology that seeks to regenerate the social, economic, and cultural life of a country by basing it on a heightened sense of national belonging or ethnic identity. Fascism rejects liberal ideas such as freedom and individual rights, and often presses for the destruction of elections, legislatures, and other elements of democracy. Despite the idealistic goals of fascism, attempts to build fascist societies have led to wars and persecutions that caused millions of deaths. As a result, fascism is strongly associated with right-wing fanaticism, racism, totalitarianism, and violence.
