Never Surrender: Post here
I vow for the next 4 years that I will never surrender the democratic values that our great nation was founded on. I will work to protect the constitution, protect the environment, and protect the rights of all people.

I will read books and books on progressive issues, attend DFA/DU/Democratic Party/Impeach Bush(we can only hope) meetups, boycott corporate interests (such as Wal Mart), plant a tree in your backyard, wear a Blue Hope bracelet, trade in the old gas guzzler for a fuel efficient car, write my Senators and Representives on issues that are important to me.

If you plan on doing the same, please post here and feel free to post the things that you plan to do.

1. I do solemnly swear the same.
I swear to myself, my family, my friends, my fellow Democrats, my fellow Countrymen and Countrywomen, and Almighty God that I will do the same to the best of my ability.

So Help Me God.

3. I'm in with a caveat or two
Can't get rid of my van yet; can't afford to. And my bracelet is Black and says "Not Me." Otherwise all systems are go.

4. Same here about the van, but I'm aboard, too.
I avoid Wal-Mart like the plague & I refuse to watch ANY cable news.

6. Don't worry
I can't afford to trade in the gas guzzler right now either, but I sure hope I will be able to within the next 4 years.

5. Do you have room for me?
From the movie Casablanca .... "Louie this looks like the beginning of a beautiful friendship." Somehow I think the Boxer Rebellion is gonna grow and Conyers
knows that he has bush dead to rights. But as for me I am in .... take the fight to 'em.

7. I will work until we regain our democracy
Edited on Thu Jan-20-05 07:48 PM by Kip Humphrey
The stolen election has removed all pretense. We are a democracy no longer. I will work to my last breath to regain our democracy for my children and their children. I will not concede to a legacy of tyranny for my kids. I will not be party to a generation that lost the greatest democratic dream in history. I will protest and resist until my dying breath to regain that dream for the generations to come and the world at large.

8. I promise to learn, to listen, to act, to resist, & ultimately to OVERCOME
Edited on Thu Jan-20-05 07:55 PM by FreepFryer
"The voice of protest, of warning, of appeal is never more needed than when the clamor of fife and drum, echoed by the press and too often by the pulpit, is bidding all men fall in and keep step and obey in silence the tyrannous word of command. Then, more than ever, it is the duty of the good citizen not to be silent."
-- Charles Eliot Norton (1827-1908), American scholar

9. This is my promise, too.
The old gas guzzler is almost paid off but it stays parked except for out of town trips. Around town errands are made in the more gas efficient car. This is most important to me because then I feel the war is really not in my name. I'm on board for everything else!
