9. It's called survival

The "old way" isn't working for the Dem party. They are steadily losing power, and I believe are even in danger of alienating/losing their base. Without a "new honesty", I think they are in danger of even becoming a "third rate" party. It has happened recently. In France, the long-powerful liberal party slipped from a significant second to a minor third place.

I think politicians like Boxer and Conyers are leading the way for the Dems "out of the wilderness". And if Dean gets the party chair it will be a good sign. I just hope the Dem powers-that-be have the sense/courage to support the needed changes.

Weren't there Democrats on the Warren Commission? (That's when I mark the start of the death of democracy.)

In fact, haven't there been Democrats closing their eyes and holding their noses for a good long time now? Didn't Democrats let the BCCI and S&L and IranContra scandals die untimely deaths? More nails in the coffin. ANything these bastards and criminals got away with only made them stronger and bolder, until voila! we reach today, where we have grown a monster and are suddenly a little surprised about it. Shouldn't be, it's been a long time coming.
