John Kerry made some good points on MTP we should think about.
Edited on Mon Jan-31-05 09:04 PM by johnaries
edit: replaced JFK with John Kerry.

As he pointed out, being Pro-Choice doesn't mean that you are Pro-Abortion. And yet, that is how the RW is painting us.

Think about what might have happened if the Pro-Life folks who disagreed with the RW on almost every other issue had spent the money they donated to the Repugs on such things as counseling, support groups, and alternative adoption options. As Kerry pointed out, the number of abortions actually went DOWN during Clinton's Admin because of the social services provided. I have a strong respect for Life. I also have a strong respect for Choice. Those of us with a respect for life should funnel our resources where they will do the most good, not on empty Campaign promises.

What about Gun Control? The real issue here is not "gun control" but Gun Safety! The NRA used to be the icon, the standard for Gun Safety! What happened? We do not want to deny anyone the right to bear arms. We do not want to take anyone's gun from their "cold, dead hands.." We want 2 things:

1: To stop, or at least minimize, the number of firearms "accidents" that result in innocent children being killed by firearms in the home.

2: To be sure that when our Law Enforcement Officers have to confront an armed Felon, that the Felon is not better armed than our Law Enforcement.

This is not "capitulation". This is not "moving more towards the middle." This is the same basic stand that Democrats have held for years. This is merely a clarification of the Democratic Platform. We have allowed the Repugs to "redefine" our platform, and that needs to stop. Semantics ARE important, and the Repugs have proven that as they have taken our platform and twisted it into something that it is not.

We don't need to move to the Right, we merely need to CLARIFY our position! PIPA http://www.pipa.org/OnlineReports/Pres_Election_04/html/new_10_21_04.html
has already shown most people agree with us, they just don't know it because they were distracted by RW propaganda.

And, most importantly, we need to show that the 2004 Election was stolen. That would be the best message we can send. Once we prove that, the American People will be willing to listen to us. If not, they will think we are just "pandering," no matter what we say.

That is why it is so important that we do not give up on proving the fraud that we all know occured during the 2004 "Selection". It's a matter of credibility in the Public Eye. We know it was stolen. We have to prove it to the rest of the country.

We can only prove it if we Never Give UP!!!!! Never Give Up!!!!! Never Give Up!!!!!

1. I agree he did and you make some good points, but...
I absolutely hate it when he is referred to as JFK. Yes those are his initials, but to my way of thinking there was only one JFK.

3. I bet Kerry himself would cringe at the "JFK" tag.

5. You're right. I edited to replace JFK with John Kerry.
Kerry even mentioned that JFK was one of his heroes and downplayed the "initials". I should have done the same.

6. Abortion rights are in danger,
and in case you didn't know, so is birth control. I am somewhat nervous about the so called re framing of this issue especially if it deemphasizes women's rights . My body is NOT negotiable. And I will not compromise my rights in order to get either gun control or an economic policy. Or election fraud.
I hope no one is thinking about re framing civil rights as well. But wait. aren't my reproductive rights civil rights as well?
Never Give Up and never concede.
