I don't think KO can publically thank us for the tie - there would be screams from the freepers about how this "proves" his "bias." But by wearing it, he was thanking us for our support, which is what the tie represents, after all. (It's also a damn fine tie!)

He said once, soon after the election when he was even more on his own in the stories he was reporting, that he was getting over a thousand tips a day, which is at least an order of magnitude boost over the usual number a reporter receives. Since then, I imagine DU people send him a significant percent of his "usable" tips, and the DU board must be a useful site for his staff. Also, we connect to his contrary, quixotic pride in what he is trying to do, since we are trying to do the same thing in our own spheres. It's all the same fight and it's good to be on the same side.

I liked what he wrote in his Jan 29 blog. He punched it up with some laughs, but you can see the seriousness of what he is revealing:
