No filibuster in the nomination of a sick, sadistic criminal for US AG???

They will be voting for this:

And for this:

AND I WILL NOT GIVE MY VOTE TO ANY OF THEM.

1. Agreed.
Anybody who can't take a stand against that needs to be removed from office. The repugs have the votes to do what they want. The messages the Dems send while we regroup is what's important. No on this one is a no-brainer.

White House Counsel Alberto Gonzales's Texas Execution Memos:
How They Reflect on the President, And May Affect Gonzales's Supreme Court Chances
By JOHN W. DEAN

snip>

"During Bush's six years as governor 150 men and two women were executed in Texas," Berlow reports in the Atlantic, "a record unmatched by any other governor in modern American history."

From 1995 to 1997, Gonzales acted as his legal counsel when the then-Governor decided whether to grant clemency, or to allow the executions to go forward. What kind of counsel did Gonzales provide? According to Berlow, he "repeatedly failed to apprise the governor of crucial issues in the cases at hand: ineffective counsel, conflict of interest, mitigating evidence, even actual evidence of innocence."

Berlow writes that the memos reflect "an extraordinarily narrow notion of clemency." They appear to have excluded, for instance, factors such as "mental illness or incompetence, childhood physical or sexual abuse, remorse, rehabilitation, racial discrimination in jury selection, the competence of the legal defense, or disparities in sentences between co-defendants or among defendants convicted of similar crimes."

It's too easy to say "no brainer." Some Democrats are acting--despite overwhelming power against them, and I imagine some fear in that atmosphere (maybe a lot of fear). Give them support in dealing with what they have to deal with. They are human beings--they need help. And the OTHERS should hear from you exactly what you think of them (well, maybe not exactly).

11. I heard on NPR, that up to 30 Democrats may vote No.
It should be ALL democrats, hell, it should be ALL Senators. I agree that those Democrats that vote "yes" for Gonzales should not receive our support. I am documenting many of the important votes that my Senators and Congressmen are making and will be using it to make decisions in '06 and '08. I think all elected officials need to be aware that things are materially changing in the way citizens are scrutinizing what these politicians are doing in Washington. I have never been so involved in this process and I thank DU for exposing me to so much. I know there are thousands like me out there, so elected officials need to be on guard. They will be called on these unconscionable positions.

17. Yes, and worse:
I have read that the Dems are "saving" their filibuster power for "more important nominees, such as Supreme Court Justice".

I have also read that the AG position is supposed to be a "stepping stone" to SCOTUS for Gonzales.

Now, HOW do the Dems fight him for SCOTUS, if they allow him to be confirmed for AG???!!!
