I can turn away, not hear him and then look back with Keith comes back on.

It should be interesting seeing the sputtering Tweety on with the suave and oh-so-very-sweet (for wearing the tie) Keith.

102. I introduced "blivet**" as the perfect name for Bush II.
Edited on Wed Feb-02-05 09:03 PM by Nothing Without Hope
With input from other people, we came up with 10 reasons supporting its perfection. First you will need to read its full list of definitions -- it is a military term as well as one from computer science and all the meanings are delicious -- and then you can read through all the reasons. They are listed in two sets of five each in the original proposal thread, which is here (it also has a link to the dictionary definitions):

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=132&topic_id=1518177

Pass the word - he's the blivet**!

Just think how the blivet** would hate that name! It's so utterly perfect, it's eerie. But then, he's such a believer in Destiny, I'm sure he'll understand.
:eyes:

edited to add: one day soon I'll repost it in the GD-Politics thread and try to infect MORE potential "blivet**"-users!
*gives evil scientist laugh and rubs hands together*

Some time we can think about making us some blivet** merchandise to raise money for good causes.

51. Yeah, me too. I'm a Texas native and the blivet**'s speaking
totally repels and disgusts me. It's not really real Texan, it's his own weird public relations Marlborough Brush Clearer Man (but keep those scary horses away from me!) Pseudo-Texan. Makes my skin crawl even before I consider what the hell he is actually saying. Then it gets a whole lot worse.

I wish Texas could just sort of repudiate him, like when Lyndon Johnson was running for Pres. He had quite a corrupt record in Texas, and there were bumper sickers everywhere saying "He's not my kind of Texan." And LBJ is a genius saint compared to the blivet**.

Yes, KO is a serious journalist, but a 10-foot pole would not help him in close-quarters combat against several estrogen-driven vixen. Fortunately, although mostly bonkers, we are geographically dispersed and not in active pursuit of KO. We are content to lust from afar.

but that's why there was the lockbox. Part of the surplus was to be put aside for Social Security before anything else was funded. Without that surplus, it needs to be fixed some other way.

It was OUR surplus, that's whose. I'm 56, and I'm spitting mad, too, about what * is trying to do.

Just rescind the tax cuts for the upper 1% and ALL IS WELL, Chimpy, you greedy rat bastard.

181. I totally agree with you -- it was our surplus and it should have
gone to help fund Social Security for our and our children's retirements. They should never have made the tax cuts permanent -- they should roll them back and remove the cap on income for Social Security. That would go a long way to help, but this pointless war is using up all the money. I don't know how he expects to pay for all the stuff he talked about last night with the deficit the way it is. Cut it in half in four years??? How? He just keeps spending and spending.

40. Hi all! Just stopping in for a moment. Is the orange tie...
tonight a signal to us that he's totally with us?! :tinfoilhat:

Of course he is - after the beautiful tie last night, how could I ever doubt it!

Keef this is for you: :loveya:

Goodnight all and have fun!

119. Hi Sparky! Actually the squirrel isn't his girlfriend
if she was, there would be less public concern about his sexual orientation. :eyes:

Actually, sponges are not capable of either hetero- or homosexuality, and since Spongebob was invented by a marine biologist, I'm sure he's portrayed as being true to whatever genus plastic supermarket animated sponges belong to. ;)

I learned all about SpongeBob from my nephew as well as from watching hours of it with him and my niece during Thanksgiving vacation. It really is very funny. He lives in a pineapple under the sea, his pet is a snail named Gary who mews like a cat, his best friend is a dumb but good-hearted starfish, and the squirrel -- who is from Texas and lives in a spacesuit-like outfit and sometimes a rolling exercise ball -- is part of some sort of biological experiment. She has a better Texas accent than the blivet** does, by the way.

Frankly, looking at SpongeBob and thinking in terms of homosexuality exhibits more imagination than I would have thought these pseudo-Christian poseurs had -- but then again, perverts have their own obsessions, I suppose.

Lookin' good, Sparky! Glad to see you here on the blivet**'s big speech night. It's depressing enough without having to see and hear him. My TV is off, as it almost always is.

Time for some more KOEB brew, I think:

Must be that good KOEB brew you're handing out. May I please have another? With the blivet**'s SOTU speech, this is definitely a multi-brew night. Besides, we're still hung over from the Tie Threads (which added together must have surpassed Understandinglife's 500 post milestone) and maybe VIRTUAL "hair of the dog" works better than it does in the real world.

In any case, to THE TIES THAT BIND!

What I like about the KOEB is how welcoming, intelligent, and what great senses of humor the ladies have here. I read a LOT of threads in GD and GDP, but don't need the hassle of rudeness. So I seldom post. I started watching KO because of the KOEB and found more information on election fraud there then anywhere on the MSM.

Edited on Wed Feb-02-05 10:22 PM by Nothing Without Hope
I've been saying it in a number of threads and I'll say it again: keeping our spirits up for the fights we are in is serious business. If we give in to despair as the blivet**'s goons want us to, then it's all over -- time to say hello to the Fourth Reich.

There is much to be hopeful about, and every reason to avoid chic cynicism. It's a cop-out and a bore.

If the KOEB can cheer some people and help them keep their spirits up (and naturally the "spirits" includes the special KOEB brew that you were serving at the KOEB bar earlier this evening), then it will have performed a mighty mission IMO.

Besides keeping our spirits up, snark serves a direct function in truthseeking. As Mark Twain wrote (and I have cited many times recently):
Irreverence is the champion of liberty and its only sure defense.
Just think of what our Keef is doing to those poor, outclassed SpongeBobGate pervs!

Have a good night.

103. He'll have to take out a restraining order against Stephanie Miller
before he puts one out on the KOEB collective. She's now referring to KO as her future husband. It's so sad seeing how some women will throw themselves at a man. Gushing over him in public, sending him presents. . . oh, wait, we do that too. Okay--he's so going to have to get restraining orders out the whole lot of us and Stephanie!

Congrats on wearing the nice tie-we like seeing a man decked out in his finest. Wear suspenders and we're yours forever. :bounce:

did anyone else think that the bit about approval ratings being unaffected by SOTU addresses was a snarky hint that all this hoo-ha over the SOTU is a colossal waste of spin?

And was Tweety's claimed "bounce" in Bush's approval ratings based on anything other than wishful thinking??

134. So, for those of you watching the blivet**, where's the "bulge" this time?
You know they can't let him give even a canned speech without prompts, so the wireless encrypted receiver/transmitter for the hidden ear speaker has to be there somewhere. Either they will block all possibility of photographs from the back, even after the speech during congratulations, or it has been put somewhere really interesting.

I'm thinking: where is the one place where no one polite would stare openly at an odd bulge, and if they did see it, it would be interpreted in a positive light?

I'm thinking: the flight suit he wore during the "Bring It On" aircraft carrier speech - that one sure had a suspicious bulge

I refuse to watch him myself, as I want to keep my dinner where it is, but I hope one of you is made of sterner stuff and will satisfy my curiosity here.

Pleeeeeze???

As I've said somewhere, the blivet**'s biggest vacation of all is between his ears. So you're right, there's plenty of room in there for the receiver/transmitter *bulge*.

Thanks for your good company tonight.

148. Hi, all!
How's everyone holding up after a full 24 hours of swooning and jumping up and down?! <g>
~~ Tonight's Countdown was a bit low-key. Keith can't really stretch out with Tweety coming up in the second half -- and that boilerplate "presidential" bumper music beginning every cotton-picking segment (altho I noticed they snuck in a few notes of Beethoven at the end of one of the intros, to assert their independence!).
~~ Keith is wearing one of my favorite ties: the copper one with the little triangles. Less luxurious than last night's neckwear, to be sure, but he is looking spiffy nonetheless!

Craig Crawford: :yourock: You just do! Loved that you brought up Iran.

John Harwood: Even you weren't heinous tonight. And you were very kind to point out that * has the lowest approval rating of any second term president -- and that even Nixon's was higher.

And, you, KO: For mentioning that the last time the SOTU and Groundhog Day fell on the same day was Nixon's second term and five days later Congress decided to start the Watergate investigation. :loveya::loveya:

Combined with the comprehensive and balanced report on the Pope and his condition, the first 30 minutes were a perfect example of why we all watch Countdown.

As luck would have it, I had to leave the house before Tweety (Feh!) came by and ruined the whole thing.

Instead of watching * and the SOTU, I had some delicious Thai food and chatted with friends about how happy we were not to be watching TV tonight.

I missed all of you, but I had fun reading this thread. Funny as usual.

What is up with Stephanie Miller? Hasn't she ever heard of playing hard to get? Please, a little self-respect here. I mean, at least we don't do this under our own names! :)

I don't have cable, so this is valuable to me.

Your points all sound dead-on. To bring up Watergate while talking about the blivet**'s SOTU -- that alone would put Keith on my hero list!
:loveya: x 10^6

And Bleever's right -- you do have your own way of saying "Feh!" Such a useful expletive when exposed to too much (which is ANY) Tweety and the blivet**!

Thai food and friends sounds lovely, but we did have a good time here with good KOEB brew and friends. Guess it must the be "friends" part that's important, huh?

Good night and happy dreams to you and all our fellow KOEBers!

Just as well, since she would have to look at the blivet** so often, including when he's nekkid. Yup, crooked gherkins are definitely preferable to eyes in some situations. Must be Providence. (And I don't mean the one in Rhode Island.)

Today the minutes seem like hours,
The hours go so slowly,
And still the sky is light,
