BulgeGate is back
Bush Stabbed in the back by FOX... or is it "shot in the back"?

"The Bulgegate story originated when a number of alert viewers of the first presidential debate noticed a peculiar rectangular bulge on the back of Bush’s jacket.

That they got to see that portion of his anatomy at all was an accident; the Bush campaign had specifically, and inexplicably, demanded that the Presidential Debate Commission bar pool TV cameras from taking rear shots of the candidates during any debates. Fox TV, the first pool camera for debate one, ignored the rule and put two cameras behind the candidates to provide establishing shots.

Photos depicting the bulge and speculating on just what it might be (a medical device, a radio receiver?) began circulating widely around the Internet, and several special blog sites were established to discuss them. The suspicion that Bush had been getting cues or answers in his ear was bolstered by his strange behavior in that first debate, which included several uncomfortably long pauses before and during his answers. On one occasion, he burst out angrily with "Now let me finish!" at a time when nobody was interrupting him and his warning light was not flashing.

Images of visibly bulging backs from earlier Bush appearances began circulating, along with reports of prior incidents that suggested Bush might have been receiving hidden cues (London Guardian, 10/8/04)."

Bush himself contradicted this White House and campaign line when he told ABC’s Charles Gibson (Good Morning America, 10/26/04) that the bulge was the result of his wearing a "poorly tailored shirt" to the debate.

Bush is not only so dumb people have to tell him what to say, but he can't even tell his lies correctly.

... it was poor Suit tailoring, not poor Shirt tailoring, Bush.

Read the whole article, quite revealing about the NY Times media execs and the Bush handlers.

1. Bush has never in his life worn anything that was poorly
tailored.

2. "poorly tailored shirts, my ass"
The guy doesn't wear anything that's poorly tailored. He farts through silk and everybody knows it.

4. I believe any tailor would scoff at that.
Those bulges would be difficult to "tailor".

6. The suit's tailor
Do you remember the day they trotted out the tailor of the suit he wss wearing? It was about a week after the debate. This had about as much credibility as the day they trotted out the army officer who claimed the crash in Roswell was from a hot air balloon. I laughed then and I laughed harded when I saw that tailor appear. Too funny!

5. Great article. Chalk another one up to cognitive dissonance.
I recall the freeper "outcry" to the supposed cheat sheet that Kerry pulled out at the same debate. I don't know for sure, because I don't watch TV anymore, but I think Faux ran with the story. It turned out to be a pen. I'm also ashamed to admit that this is the first time I've seen the enhanced picture of the bulge. Looks very convincing, and considering the source, I'd like to see the rest of them.

7. Yes, and he wore the same shirt for each of three debates!
Jeez, can you believe the President lied to Charlie Gibson on daytime TV?

I used to have the link to the photo on the White House's official web site that shows the same bulge, only slightly covered by Bush's gray t-shirt. Even if Bush is getting cues from god, he must know about that bulge.

In the photo Bush is driving a pickup truck on the Pseudo Ranch--no horses there (is it true that Bush has a fear of horses? Media was on the ranch that day, so he needed to be in close contact with his handlers

Here's a link to ranch photo:

8. Bulgegate is back
What a knock-out story! Just makes my blood boil reading it. The bushies made so many mistakes during the campaign, but no-one was willing to point them out and make some much needed political hay. Even one story (like this one) could have handed Kerry the presidency. I am so angry that I can hardly see straight. And now we have to put up with this moron for four more years! I can hardly stand it. How do we wake the country up?

The tide against us is like a tsunami: it washes everything away as if it never happened. Well, here's hopin the damn wave is all played out and we can get back to real democracy again, real soon.

Good to read of new folks coming in that are up to speed already, yall counter the spies on this board very well, thank you.

19. The international press had some coverage
of the story, and foreign commentators saw Bulgegate as confirming evidence that the US electorate tolerates outright cheating and lying from * and high administration officials.

9. not to mention there's nothing about tailoring that would do that.
Maybe if he had hung his suit jacket on a hook for a coupla days, it would poke out like that, but...

I can't believe they say that kind of stuff with a straight face and the media lets them.

Yeah, Bush, tell us again how you saw the first plane hit on TV. Nobody called you on that either.

10. The sweet irony of it being Faux News is delicious!
What really creeps me out about the story is that the WH INSISTED no TV shots from behind be taken! Who was the fool that accepted that as an ultimatum? The article is fabulous! Read it last night and it made me sad to think that the journalists in this country have betrayed their own people. Sounds like we haven't heard the last of the stories of betrayal...

11. But being on Fair.org
hardly makes this story "back"

Bush won that round, that battle is over. He went on live TV wearing a bizarre space harness anyone could plainly see and simply said it wasn't there and he won. As far as the majority of America is concerned, it's a non-issue that reflects poorly on anyone who references it.

If only Kerry had broken the agreed protocol and asked Bush to remove his jacket live during the debate. Obeying the rules kills us.

16. Revival of "Bulgegate" an opening for election fraud?
There was another thread on this but it's worth repeating. This could be just the story we need to break to paint * as an unabashed cheater. We've got the photographic evidence and a pretty obvious lie from the chimp himself. The MSM might run with this story - not as extreme or conspiratorial as massive election fraud, but once * is painted as a cheating liar in the MSM, then we can bring out the election fraud evidence.

There is also speculation that it may be a heart monitor. http://houston.indymedia.org/news/2004/12/35839.php

Either way it was definitely something and he's clearly lying about it.

17. I wouldn't count on the same MSM that...
... skewered Dan Rather for forged documents that supported a truthful story and ignored forged documents presented to the UN to support an illegal invasion (and glided along with the rotating justifications for the war); or the MSM that refuses to give Congress raw exit poll data from the Nov 2 election fraud; the MSM that serves scores of White House lies every week without a cursory check of fact or logic....

It is a pleasing fantasy, though.
