what we really need is international election standards

obviously there is no was to enforce anything that would be worked out. but wouldn't it be great if voting rights activists from all over the world could hold a conference, and issue a set of guidelines about what constitutes a free and fair election? from campaign finance, existence of a free press, fairness of registration procedures to vote counting.

maybe the prospect of looking down their noses at the rest of the world might distract some people from their own agendas for a minute, and that might let a little honesty and integrity in.
