Report: FAA Had 52 Pre-9/11 Warnings
Report: FAA Had 52 Pre-9/11 Warnings

WASHINGTON (AP) - The Federal Aviation Administration received repeated warnings in the months prior to Sept. 11, 2001, about al-Qaida and its desire to attack airlines, according to a previously undisclosed report by the commission that investigated the terror attacks.

The report by the 9/11 commission that investigated the suicide airliner attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon detailed 52 such warnings given to FAA leaders from April to Sept. 10, 2001, about the radical Islamic terrorist group and its leader, Osama bin Laden.

Actually there were a lot more warnings known about than these:

1. my question is..
does this relieve bu$h of his personal responsibility to warn americans of impending attacks ? or did bush and company conspire to profit from these warnings ?

3. Yeah, but they didn't include flight numbers and seat assignments, so
nobody took them seriously.

4. Now we know what prompted Rumsfield to avoid commercial flights
Rumsfield announced he would no longer take commercial flights due to "security concerns" well before 9.11.01, but apparently this "security concern" was kept from the public so the desired "Reichstag fire" could occur.

5. Don't see much discussion of this issue tonight
while listening to Mike Malloy call for impeachment.

It's a good question: if not for this, then what? What would it take to remove Bush from office?

Are there more outraged DU folks working on this somewhere?

6. This is the report/news I knew was coming
While I didn't know what it was specifically, I did hear a guest on Olbermann BEFORE the election stating that a portion of the 9/11 Commissions report was being withheld - the CIA portion if I'm not mistaken. At the time, I knew it would be damaging to * whatever it was, which made me all the more angry that it was being kept secret. What I didn't know was that it was this bad.

Here's a thread in the LBN forum:

7. I i have been screaming about this since 9/11 and...
no one would listen ..because it wasn't patriotic to question..because americans choose to be stupid and ignorant..because we have become lazy blobs with a 2 second sound bite citizenship!

not one flight crew got a warning ..not one!!

sensenbrenner said before 9/11 we never took these threats seriously..well thats bullshit..under clinton we flight crews would periodically get state dept warning tightening security and we would even be tested by faa agents undercover..we would have airline .."spies in the sky " testing us on security..so thats bullshit!

this is an entire republican cover up and folks that is exactly what it is a cover up...it has got to be stopped..if it takes each and everyone of us to take to the damn streets..this administration should all be in prison..not in our white house!!

the 9/11 commission is a joke..most on that board have saudi connections and conflict of interests.,.they are complicit in a cover up on the american public and the world...but the difference in us and the world..the world has not been fooled!

from a retired american airlines flight attendant.

8. I've been searching for a * quote about this topic...
and I can't find it.
My memory has it as follows...
'If we had any information at all that planes would be used as weapons, we would have moved heaven and earth to prevent it'

I've been going crazy trying to find it.
If anyone has a better memory of the quote I would luv to hear it.

Thnx in Advance

11. Thank you...
Using the word 'inkling' in my search found it right off the bat.
Kinda hard to find quotes from an illiterate President. 8)

Thanks again orleans

12. IMPORTANT Story. Bush really did know or should have known.
Edited on Fri Feb-11-05 09:36 AM by McCamy Taylor
And they redacted this part until after the election and inauguration, the slime balls! The guy on Countdown last night was hopping mad about the last part, said the administration shouldnt be classifying stuff that wasnt actually national security (implication being that it was classified for political reasons).

Condi admitted that the administration knew something was going to happen involving an airplane. Her excuse for doing nothing except drawing up plans for an invasion of Afghanistan was that she though it would be a "routine" hijacking. This FAA stuff makes you wonder if the White House knew damn well that it would not be a routine hijacking and if they were counting on 9-11 to

1. Defelect media attention from the Gore win in Florida on the recount

2. GIve them an excuse to invade Afghanistan so they could build a gas pipeline the Taliban wouldnt give them

3. Have an excuse to invade Iraq

4. Bolster *'s sagging ratings

5. Gave an excuse for the GOP HOuse to write a big fat retroactive rebate of taxes never paid for financially strapped Enron---a rebate that the White House lobbyed for on the grounds that the economy needed stimulating in the wake of 9-11. That money might have kept Kenny Boy's company from going bankrupt if the Democratic Senate had not pulled the plug on it.

A "routine" hijacking would have accomplished none of this.
