Nearly 60% of Americans oppose the Iraq war, now, today. 63% oppose torture UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. Bush's approval ratings are in the toilet, as they have been since 2003--hovering around 50% since the 2004 "election," and dropping to 48% (!!) on Inauguration Day--an unprecedented "vote of no confidence" in a recently installed, second term president.

And all of this supports the now overwhelming evidence of Stolen Election II.

But we mustn't just look to Washington. The battle for the future is occurring at the state level, over election reform. Look what's happening in California! --one of the few Secretaries of State in the nation to oppose Diebold, driven from office by trivial charges, in a concerted wolf pack attack by pro-Diebold forces.

Californis is NEXT. BEWARE!

I haven't seen this video yet. I'm almost afraid to view it. The 2004 election is one of the greatest tragedies I have ever witnessed. Do you know that Democrats won the voter registration drive in 2004 by 58% to 41%!!!! The magnificent democracy movement that accomplished that--the greatest democracy movement I have ever seen in this country--took a devastating blow on November 2nd, with the theft of the election. And it is only just beginning to recover.

But we can know this: THERE IS A REASON that they have stolen our right to vote. And THERE IS A REASON that they tried to blow this democracy movement to smithereens. Our vote and our democracy is at the nexus of power in the world. We alone have the opportunity--and the potential power--to stop these criminals.

And we MUST ACT at the state and local level NOW to recover our right to determine what our government does to others and to us.

I say, THROW DIEBOLD and ELECTRONIC VOTING MACHINES into Boston Harbor--or some other convenient body of water--in the spirit of the Boston Tea Party!

That was less than 2 months ago, but it feels much longer :)
Since then, I have met so many wonderful people from DU, both virtually on the forum here and IRL in DC on Jan 6th and Seattle on Jan 20th.
This video describes so clearly how we are part of an amazing continuum of people who have fought against oppression and for all of our rights.
I am committed to continue the fight and to spead the word so that others who know in their hearts that something has gone very wrong will find the renewed strength to stand up and fight.
I thank all of you so much for the opportunity to be part of the community that is making that stand.

from Apple after all... what system and computer are you running? (Up until I got this computer last May I hadn't had a new Mac since about 1998 and of course a lot of things were crashing my old system.)

The above is the links page for the Votergate movie... looks like they have several other sites mirroring their movie files. Maybe The Battle For America people could do the same... especially if several sites would volunteer to host the movie at once; it would spread out the bandwidth requirement?

I don't have a Voting Rights / Progressive Politics site myself (at least as of now) but maybe for those groups who do, this is something to consider (provided they can handle a little more bandwidth themself).

I would think that with adequate funds they should be able to find a place to do it, but he told me they're still looking and money isn't necessarily the issue.
