just like he did in that recent speech in Texas. He's the real deal, and people sense his intelligence, grasp of the realities of world politics, and strong character. We've been hearing propaganda about morality so much, it would be a pleasant surprise to a lot of people to see the real thing.

I'm glad to hear that he's out talking to people and spreading the word. Interesting in that thread is that he specfically urged people to write letters and call and use the internet to get the word out and convince people of what is REALLY important. The phrase "hold them accountable" was the connecting theme, and isn't about time?

... don't simply regard this isolation as inevitable if you hope to share your life with this man. Guys tend to concentrate very hard when they're dealing with a lot of stuff and not be demonstrative, it's true.

I've concluded it's an ancient strategy to conserve energy, left over from prehistoric times. It doesn't serve them well in committed relationships, where adversity should logically cause two people to draw closer together for support, rather than one of them shutting up like a clam.

Nevertheless, that's what most guys do when trouble comes, so you need to sit him down lovingly and nonthreateningly and tell him you're having trouble reaching him, that you want to help him carry the burdon of these problems and know that you're still connected.

Then quickly reassure him that you're not suggesting he spill his guts about everything he's feeling -- just that you need to know that you're helpful to him.

In the days that follow, remind him often: "I know you're handling it but don't forget about me, I'm here for you!" and touch him gently. It sounds corny but a guy appreciates his girl making contact when he's all locked up within himself with all those cares.

Hope I won't be perceived as presumptuous in presenting these thoughts; what you spoke of just sounds so familiar! I've had to perform the above ritual, hold the above truths to be self-evident, as it were, dozens of times over the past 18 years -- but it has helped to keep us close and the marriage strong.

Best wishes; I know it's a *hard work* (how I wish GWB hadn't turned that into a comedy line)!

btw, they DO in fact sometimes edit the show inbetween the live airing and the taped replay, but it's not usually for anything big. Only seen it happen once, I think it was last week, when someone missed a cue and didn't cutaway from KO on the "Top Three Newsmakers" and they fixed it on the replay.

I watched a tape of the first broadcast and the #1 story was the Valentine's Day stuff. He did the great double entendres with the Gannon stuff as soundbites, but that was it. I wouldn't be surprised if it covers that in more detail on a different night, or in his blog, when he's had a little more time to be sure nothing was faked.
