57. OT: Does anyone know how a knee feels if you've fractured your

patella (kneecap)?
I feel on my knee on a hardwood floor and it still hurts. It only hurts if I put weight on it or my son accidentally hits hit (like directly on the knee).
I can put weight on it and have no trouble bending it or walking. However, I had to give up my health insurance until they re-do it next month (we are a small company and a very sick former employee on our COBRA is driving up the prices. She will be on Medicare as of next month and our company will renegotiate for better prices, etc.).
I really just hope it's sprained.

220. Yes, it's bloody awful!....

I broke mine in 2 places, but didn't want to have it checked, until three hours after I slipped onto a steel grate on a footpath.
By then it had swollen considerably,I could not walk and no amount of painkillers helped, so my son took me to the ER.
Two xrays later I saw the cracks myself; much to my dismay.
They gave me a couple of vicodins and a snappy brace; from ankle to thigh (which really worked)and sent me home. At least it made walking possible.
It didn't take long to heal,(for a break), but screwed up my plans to go skiing. I had to wear the brace for five weeks, and found sleeping with my leg raised a real pain in the arse.
I hope you have health-insurance, for obvious reasons.
