What will it take?
To get rid of that headline on this forum, ya know, the one pinned at the top, the one that says:

" Regarding newbies and those who insist on "calling" them out."

2. funny you should mention that right now
I was actually one of the cases that made that happen when I first signed on to DU.

right after the election, I tried to get an ID on DU but they were partially shut down and registration was closed. so I went elsewhere - RandiRhodes dicussion, Common Dreams, etc... for my info. after a few weeks when by I got an ID finally. When I first started talking, a few people noticed that I only had a few posts, and they immediately jumped all over me and accused me of being a republican plant. They didn't believe that someone with only 10 posts would have anything valuable to say. It was only a few people that were doing this but it was pretty bad and not polite at all. I think most people would have really been turned off and left, but I stuck around. I think the admins got pretty pissed at the way I was treated and they put that up there.

What's ironic about you posting this today is that I just had my 1,000th post and all is well. I believe I have many friends here now.

peace,
gary

3. 1,000 posts?
Damn, that was fast. Glad you survived, Gary.

DU has a way of trimming the herd and since you are an obvious pick of the litter, you are to be congratulated. Consider it so.

It took me a year to get to 1,000 posts. Of course, I must have read 10,000 before I got close. I guess I'm around 4,000 by now in three years plus...am I slow, or what?

4. things were pretty hot and heavy in here during November/December
I can believe Gary's read 10,000 (probably way more than that) before reaching the magic 1,000. I remember when that post got pinned to the top of the forum because I only had a handful of posts to my name back then, too, and there was a lot of freeper-sniffing going on (some of it deserved). I think we could probably take the warning down now as I expect the next meeting of the DUDQ will be about something other than us pointing fingers at each other and saying, "freeper!".

Congrats, Gary. I've enjoyed a lot of your stuff.
