Seeking Someone To Put Name & Email To Petition
Basically the petition is to read as follows. I need for someone who doesn't mind having their name and email address credited as creating the petition. Any takers?

"Address The Biggest Threat To Our Democracy Petition

To: Electoral Reform Groups, U.S. Congress

We have grave concerns about voting in our Democracy. We believe the main threat to our Democracy is not currently being addressed.

Paper trails for ballots only matter if an election is close enough to "justify" a recount, and if an honest recount can be accomplished.

The Diebold GEMS Central Tabulator can be hacked into in order to create an artificially large difference in votes between candidates. So without a recount, the "paper trail," if it exists remains irrelevent.

If a recount is done, there is no guarantee it will be done openly and honestly, so again the paper trail may be irrelevant.

We have to get it right the first time, by addressing the Diebold GEMS Central Tabulator problem. We need to get Diebold out of our election system.

Otherwise we see no point in taking part in any actions to demand a paper trail and/or deal with myriad types of vote fraud and intimidation. If we ONLY take care of all the other problems, we could easily find ourselves wondering again in 2006 and 2008 "what went wrong?"

We will not participate until and unless the Diebold GEMS Central Tabulator problem is first or simultaneously addressed."

1. It isn't just Diebold; it's all the other companies too. My group is
working on the tabulator issue in OR; we don't have Diebold tabulators, but we have ES & S and Sequoia, which are just as bad. And I agree with you; tabulators are the biggest problem. AND we need paper ballots.

2. In my mind "diebold" is like a generic term for
all the vote fraud machine manufacturers.

The manual I posted a link to also includes instructions for ES&S.

3. "Generic terms" are best used when everyone is on the same page...
...or if we don't care if it's Coke or Pepsi.

Unfortunatley, neither is the case.

4. The wording can be changed from just Diebold
to list all the manufacturers or just to say all "machines" and tabulators.

The only point I want to make is that we can fix everything else from here to kingdom come, but if the potential manipulation currently inherent in the tabulators is not dealt with, the rest will be for naught.

The details are what need to be addressed.

And the wording of the petition is open to modification.

5. You are right on about the tabulators.
