Indiana/close election/fraud/college voter suppression/etc. why not challa
Anyone know why Indiana election result wasn't challanged given the widespread fraud/glitches, improper switching/default of Dem votes,
widespread suppression of minority and student voters, registration irregularities, lost registrations, purges, etc. that happened there??

Indiana (Straight Dem ticket vote isn’t counted for Dem president choice, voter/student suppression, long lines, registration and polling place irregularities, lost registrations, etc.)
(Marion,Lake,Franklin,Monroe,Hamilton,Tippaconoe,St Joseph’s counties)

Anyone from Indiana know why there was no challenge?

1. The only ones filing challenges after Nov 2...
...were the greens/libs/Nader. They didn't have the resources to press the whole country. They did what they could, but with the support from the Dem establishment coming so late in the game, not everything got looked into.

2. Was the widespread problem of straight Dem ticket votes not counting for K
Kerry in Indiana and about 10 other states deliberate fraud, glitches that happened that way in lots of counties of lots of states, poorly designed ballots and insufficient education of voters on how to vote in a state where Dem straight party votes didn't count for Kerry(about 10 such states).
This appears to have been a huge number of votes lost by the Dems in many states. Is this fraud that no one has challanged, or the Dems fault for not knowing how the compilers compiled votes and warning all the Dem voters, or fault of officials for not warning voters of unusual programming in the compilers or what????

3. Blame...

The ultimate blame rests on the snoring bellies of the American people, I am ashamed to say. I include myself to some extent in that, though I am sure there are some DUers who were awake through it all.

Many states didn't get the challenge merited, yes. Heck, many states didn't even get a decent work-over by DU spreadsheet jockeys.

7. Citizens also filed challenges
Notably the citizens in Ohio who filed with Cliff Arnebeck et. al, and Susan Pynchon of Volusia County Florida.

The problem with citizen challenges is that most jurisdictions run the clock out while stonewalling citizen efforts to get the facts they need in order to file a case without getting sanctioned.

4. Anybody inclined to launch an investigation at this point?
Those of us who have investigated other states are available to train you.

Why do it at this late date?

Because if we succeed in aiming the shit well enough that it eventually hits the fan, we'll need to have as much evidence as possible to prove that the shit isn't just chocolate pudding.

Because we need to know exactly what was done to have any hope of preventing it from being done again.

Because maybe investigation would point clearly enough to individuals that criminal prosecution would become an option.

You don't have to be in Indiana to do this investigation. It helps to have people there who can do some in-person stuff, but most of it can be done remotely (kinda like rigging a tabulator, only significantly more ethical!).

6. Probably because Indiana was far from a swing state
It was not contested by Kerry at all. Even with fraud possible, the vote was lopsidded 60-40. Any recount investigation resources are limited and there were bigger fish to fry than Indiana.

8. Thus the folly of choosing only swing states for investigation
The problem is election fraud, and it is not limited to red states, red counties, or even to Republicans.

The investigations should proceed where there is the best chance of uncovering real evidence, not where there is a partisan agenda.

Edited on Thu Feb-24-05 08:57 PM by berniew1

and I guess Indiana is In and 49 to 41 %

But how many vote straight Dem and lost their vote? That could be a big number.

12. I thought Ia was Indiana; Perhaps Iowa which was close was one to look at

But the straight Dem ticket default in Indiana could have swung a lot of votes.

13. IA (Iowa) was close.
Bush won the "official" tally by 0.67%.

Slightly more than 10,000 votes out of slightly more than 1.5M cast.
