I am convinced, absent other evidence, that it was McClellan himself, in his capacity as DEPUTY PRESS SECRETARY TO ARI FLIESCHER. Ole Scotty has been with the chimp since '99, when he was the governor.

Ari may have had the TOP DOG spot, but the real power lay with the Texas Crew, the ones who CAME WITH the chimp from the governor's office. Ari supposedly quit because of this "Texas crew" and his inability to get straight answers without a shitload of filtering....and I'll bet the press filter was Scotty boy.

Who likes it when a subordinate has better access than you do? No one I know!

What was the time span, I wonder? Seems like he quit(calling on Gannon), then he started again...because 'Texas Crew' told him to. Then Ari left his post shortly after (right?), and Scotty took over. Any one know the exact timeline?

8. Ari Fleischer did

He said he spoke to Eberle about GOPUSA and Talon News. He's the one who ultimately approved Gannon getting in as a result of that conversation.

Also, Ari said he didn't know Gannon was an alias. Gannon said he always applied for press passes under the name Guckert. How could Ari talk with Eberle about any of this without knowing what name the press passes were issued under?

And how do both of them keep coming up with all this information if they don't have a file which likely has signed approvals in it?

They know. Somebody needs to force them to speak or get those files.
