3. Do you know if anyone will be recording audio of the talks and posting on
the net? I notice Larry Bensky will be there, will KPFA air it all?
Thanks for the update!

4. Larry Bensky will do related coverage on his show the next day
Sunday Salon, streaming at kpfa.org. It's a two hour show, and I think one hour will be about this.

I haven't heard yet if organizers have succeeded in setting up streaming, or what the recording/videotaping arrangements are. I'll post them when I know.

5. Thanks! Otherwise I was thinking, will my van make it to Oakland from
Seattle? I just don't know for sure. Do you happen to know if they'll be doing something similar in Seattle?

6. Great idea--but you are "they!"
How about if you pull together a group of people to sponsor an event there?

To start with, you have Andy Stephenson in the Seattle area, John Gideon and perhaps others from Voters Unite!, and attorney Paul Lehto. Don't ask them to help organize, but ask them to speak. You might also want to talk with author Paul Rogat Loeb (Soul of a Citizen, The Impossible Will Take a Little While) who lives there as well.

If you don't know how to put together an event like this, there are plenty of people who do. Some have gotten their experience planning school fundraisers or other unrelated types of events. The work you put in will grow the movement in ways beyond what you'll ever find out about. It's a great way to do work that has very broad impact.

And after the Oakland and southern CA teach-ins, there'll be lessons learned that you can take advantage of, and materials prepared that you can use or adapt.

If you don't want to do this, would you be willing to talk to people and find someone who will?

I'm speaking at the Oakland event, BTW, and I'd happily come speak at one in Seattle.

I'll check around...

Edited to add: if there is not already a similar teach-in planned for Seattle I'll check with some people who can put something together.

Thanks for lighting a fire under my butt. Sigh.

9. Ok, I've contacted 6 people/groups to see if there is anything in the
works. A radio host, a film guy who knows everything that's going on around town, two progressive churches, rolling thunder seattle and Paul Loeb. I tried to contact Bob Fitrakis directly but his site, fitrakis.org, seems down.
I'll let you know what I hear back and take it from there. By the way:

11. See? You are the right person for the job!
As you get farther along in this process I can help you contact potential speakers, including Bob Fitrakis. So write down my screen name so you can PM me when you're ready for that.

14. I contacted a few more, have heard back from a few. So far it looks like
nothing has been set up. But I have a couple of groups that might be interested in organizing something.
Thanks for your offer to help, I'll be contacting you when more is clear. :hi:

12. Event will be recorded and videotaped
One of the organizers says, "We are both recording and videotaping. It is not certain that we can
get it streamed live... We will certainly be making the materials avaialabe on CD and DVD, as soon as we are able."

13. Excellent ! Also - streaming not necessary, they can convert audio to mp3
and upload to http://www.radio4all.net/ for free distribution.
Thank you for checking into this!
