Election reform soundbites to mobilize, energize and inform!
End secret vote counting now!
Secret vote counting is illegal!
Stop outsourcing our elections!

Or: End election outsourcing?

Stop privitizing our elections!

I'm thinking we need a battle cry, folks.

4. "End secret vote counting!" is the best of these.
I would drop the word "now"--just too many words. And the "now" takes away from comprehension of the four word concept you are trying to get across. End. Secret. Vote. Counting. That's enough to take in, in a slogan.

The "privatizing" ones are too obscure. They take explanation.

"Outsourcing" is also a bit obscure. Are 25 cents a day sweatshop workers in Cambodia counting our votes...or what?

The latter two (privatizing, outsourcing) would be okay for a crowd that knows something about the issue.

End secret vote counting. "Secret" is good. It's anathema to democracy.

Might be combined with: Give us back our right to vote!

End secret vote counting!
Give us back our right to vote!

(Something about "give us back" bothers me--we shouldn't be asking, we should be demanding. But, fact is, they DID take AWAY our right to vote--with HAVA and electronic voting.)

Oh, here we go:

End secret vote counting!
Take back your vote NOW!

--drop the "ing" of "counting."

End secret vote counts!
Take back your vote NOW!

A good chant. Repeat it a couple of times. It sounds good. It breathes well. I could march to it.

End secret vote counts!
Take back your vote NOW!

End secret vote counts!
Take back your vote NOW!

End secret vote counts!
Take back your vote NOW!

March, march, march...

11. Outsourcing works well in context. One of our coalition members was
interviewed and talked about secret software, and made the statement that when we use voting systems made by corps with proprietary software, we are outsourcing our elections, and they printed that.

6. Yeah. "No" works better than "end"--in a chant. "End" will get...
...swallowed up and not heard. "No" is much better. I'm also liking "Give us back our right to vote!" A good chant line.

But I still don't like "ing" on "counting."

NO secret vote count!
Give us back our right to vote!

or possibly

Stop secret vote counts!
Give us back our right to vote!

7. I had stop first but Garybeck said it should be end because it's already
happening and we need to end it. Probably just rhetorical.
Stop secret vote counts has a nice ring.

8. either way is fine
I like "stop" the best because it also implies that it's happening now. and it's a hard word, much harder than "end" so it's more useful for chants and rallies.

"no" is the only one that doesn't say if we're fighting someting that already exists or is coming if we don't prevent it.

ultimately no one is going to sit there and contemplate semantics at a rally. but words are more powerful than people think and subconsciously they have an affect. I think STOP has a larger sense of urgency than "no". I vote for "stop".

I thought you originally had NO, and that's what I suggested you change to END. doesn't matter... go for it!
