I talk slowly and have a slight drawl, but I pronounce MOST of my words correctly - and I'm FROM here.
I say "OYL," not "OL" and hand is but one syllable, but I do tend to draw some words out.

I noticed rather quickly that NC had a large variety of accents. You couldn't find just one to imitate.

Because I'm a musician, I have a really good ear for accents. In fact, I usually begin imitating them without realizing it. I can do a wicked Jersey accent, as well as a variety of NC accents. But the one I do best is 'Sconsin (pronounced through the nose, with extremely closed Oh's (almost an oooh).

If your son can grow up to sound like John Edwards, he'll do just fine!

I HATE John Edwards' accent. :puke: In fact, it sounds too "put on" to me. I used to cringe when he'd speak. Sorry if you like him (and this isn't judging his character), but his overly-pronounced accent doesn't woo me in the least.
I want my son to sound more like Clark - with just a trace, so you know he's from down here somewhere, but not enough so that it becomes a calling card.
Actually, we both sound like Clark's son, more than Clark, Version 1.0. In fact, when I'm talking to Wes 2.0, I don't notice ANY accent - which means he sounds like me. LOL!
Also true of Crispini. She and I have VERY similar Southern accents, btw. Nice, lovely, simple and Southern.

(no not that one) who died in the World Trade Center and was an expert on Al Quaeda? That one was so chilling. Great show.

I didn't know it was on at 10, thought I'd missed the 9 o'clock showing and so now consequently, I've missed the 10 o'clock showing.

I'm sure it was a much more truthful report on the situation in Iraq then we'll get from Rush when he gets back from his shill trip to the DMZ. I hope they rebroadcast it. Have you seen 'Control Room', the documentary about Al Jazeera, lots of truth about Iraq in that one too. I wish they'd play some of these documentaries on television.
