I went to the film presentation last night. Three films were shown, to great audience response. I will have more details later, but here are a few:

The three films were

a new version of Votergate, which is being made into a 90-minute feature (we saw a 35 minute version). The new one includes reporting and footage from post-coup period. Andy (and Bev, of course) looking good!

Electile Dysfunction by Penny Little. A humorous and informative montage, 55 minutes.

Standing Out in the Rain With Jim Crow. Footage from Ohio by Linda Byrket. This has been widely seen on the web. A political consultant named Zac from San Francisco gave a moving explanation of how this footage came to be so widely circulated and included in the Conyers testimony.

Everyone clapped in the middle of one film when footage of Kevin Shelley was briefly shown.

MoveOn is considering promoting these three films as a houseparty package for its membership!

Things are happening. The Votergate guys now have the backing of the same compnay who produced Outfoxed.

2. Sorry to hear this.

The film was somewhat frustrating to watch because it was so disjointed, and seemed to be a hodgepodge of many things without a cohesive focus. We were asked to fill out a short review sheet, which I wanted to say much on, but it only asked the briefest of questions, which she said were going to be used to get further backing for the film.

Also, her frequent appearance in the film, according to a guest I brought, made the production seem unprofessional.

5. My understanding

is that Ms. Little is pulling all the original interviews and fottage done by Symbolman and his wife for her own "improvements", thus the film now looks disjointed.

This was all about ego and money, not activism.

Do you know who the woman was that she was talking about? Was she sitting on a park bench, with gray hair and glasses? I'm wondering because she interviewed me for the film and I have no idea if any of the footage got in. I was talking about different types of fraud/malfeasance in Ohio, focusing on the work of Richard Hayes Phillips. Just curious. But from this report, I'm not sure if I hope I'm in the film or not!

Emily Levy, right? I thought that must be you. It was good!

The best thing about the film were the interviews with experts and knowledgeable sources. But some of the time was wasted with silly things, and it was frustrating that it left out some of the most important material.

I would say that they need some help with that film.

Still, as the neophyte who I brought to see the films remarked, she learned a lot from all three films.

Film is the most enticing way to educate the uninitated.

I'd really recommend that you email Penny Little with your feedback. She interviewed me for about two hours. I believe she's passionate about telling this story and really wants to do a good job. I also know she's been showing incomplete versions of the film in order to get feedback. If you don't have a way to reach her, ask me and I'll give you a way to get to her email. ...have been there, could be there today in Santa Monica, and could have been there yesterday in Oakland. I just found out too late to re-arrange my work schedule.

So I'm panting for reports.

How great that they applauded Shelley! At least the folks in that audience know what's what!

And great to hear that MoveOn is considering promotion.
