the Essex COunty task force on E-Voting (NJ) is in contact with the Gov. about the Attorney Generals failures in leading NJ forward in implementing HAVA.
In NJ The AG Office runs elections.
In NJ the AG may have screwed up so bad, the DOJ may audit past purchases of the Sequoia Advantage DRE, with HAVA money, the Advantage may not be eligible for title III funds under section 301.
Currently open records requests are in for Everything Sequoia in NJ, And anything on the Certification proceess of voting equipment in NJ.
WE actually dont need to sue---though Current fed & NJ law gives us the avenue of going directly to federal court. Taking the entire process out of the purview of the state level courts--
If our efforts go this far, the NJ AG may be forced to recuse himself.
The AG staff has made threatening statement in the press. But on our side we have: --retired NJ Deputy Att. Gen. --2 Rutgers Univ. Law professors --entire staff of NJ Appleseed, lawyers staff etc. --Computer sci PHD Rebeca Mercuri -- another 8 Phds, math, software, engineering
And weve got the largest paper in NJ giving us some favorable press.
Just a little up date from the trenches, 1 suit in place in NJ, possibility of a 2nd.
