what sense does this "unweighted average" make? Each state given an equal weight -- it doesn't even work like that in the GE with Electoral College. It's a meaningless number.

4. Neither John Kerry nor Al Gore lost their respective elections....

...but both men conceded victory to George W. Bush. I guess the real question ought to be why did both men do that, when it would have been to their benefit, the democratic party's benefit and the country's benefit to have fought for every vote no matter what it took?

If the democrats allow this to happen again in a national election they might as well pack up their tents and dissolve the party. Or perhaps the two party system in this country is so corrupt and non-repairable that the people should try to figure out a more representative form of government.

7. I agree! Why would they. But GORE fought for a long time.

Look at the DNC report, at their web site. They go out of their to say they're not claiming Kerry actuallyi "won" Ohio, even though the report plus Conyers adds up to theft.

They even devoted a whole little chpater to it. Amazing. Dean inherited this crew and study. He needs to clean house soon, fire everybody that's comfortable, happy, secure. They need some angry, hungry, very smart real-world Democrats in there.

9. Gore fought it until the SCOTUS stopped all further counting of...

...Florida votes and declared Bush the winner of the state. Still, that fight should have continued, but the democratic party chose not to and put Al Gore out to pasture. Then when the democratic voters began to respond to the candidates in 2003 and new registrations exceeded almost everyone's expectations, Kerry steps up and makes his commitment to fight to make sure every vote is cast and every vote is counted. Even VP John Edwards made that strong statement on election night after the poll numbers started coming in as close as they were, that this fight would be carried through until every vote is allowed and counted.

That was not to happen when Kerry conceded the next morning. Something is really wrong with the whole process and it isn't the fact that republicans stole the vote. It is I believe that either party which chooses to in our method of elections can do exactly the same thing and if all three branches of government executive, legislative and judicial decide to go along with the process and are backed by big money and the two parties, the rest of us can just lump it!

If I were there I'd just be furious every day at my elected officials; betrayers of Democracy.

We're at the point now where arguing over the obvious, that Ohio was stolen, that the national election was stolen is really nothing more than a Republican talking point.

I should also note for the record that history will some day demonstrate that the current Virginia 44%-50% is about what it was on election day.

Ohio is the exemplar for the future of the Democratic Party unless we get busy and make our leaders step up to the plate.

In fact, in June, the 57% dissapproval rating in Ohio (which was Barely, Stolen Bush) is comparable to the 58% dissapproval rating in Massachusetts (Kerry's home state, Solid Blue, "Saynidurr from Muhassuhchewsits" used by Bush to try to spread hate for John Kerry and the Kennedy family). Judging by those ratings, I would have expected John Kerry (in a completely fair election, where voters weren't denied based on the paper they used) to carry Ohio with 55 to 56 percent of the vote, and to carry Florida with 53 - 54 percent of the vote.

If memory serves, Kerry was polling upwards of 70% prior to election day. He scored in the low 60's. Pardon me but I feel that they shaved enough points out the entire nation so * could win the popular vote and claim his alleged mandate. I think it's total bull.

All that's going to happen is that when people get pissed off about everything, and we're close, it will be time to find an excuse (we always do) and the BEST one out there, and it's true, is that the election was stolen. His disapproval is about a point lower than his approval in states like Mississippi and Georgia. In any of the 2004 battleground states his disapproval is WAY higher than his approval.
