2004 Election Results activism idea. We can do this...
In my opinion the majority of people who voted for Kerry, and the independents who may have voted for Bush but are having "buyers remorse" are mostly unaware of all the evidence that the 04 election was stolen, or won extremely unfairly via suppression and lieing campaign tricks. With Rove in the news and Bush tanking for both approval and veracity there is no better time than the present to spread a Daily Show type version of the Conyers report or a Greg Palast type article. Entertaining and mocking the enemy, while informing is why the Daily Show is so effective. Dean was right when he said we need a lot more people watching the Daily Show. If we want to inform people who do not frequent lefty blogs and forums about the 04 stolen election we can all do some very simple things to spread
Behind The Election: Bush Cheated '04

I pledge to write www.BushCheated04.com on 20 1 dollar bills and spend them.

Brainstormimg ideas welcomed.

Podcasts of the song Loser version 2.0 perhaps? Putting Loser Version 2.0 the Flash movie on file sharing networks? visiting blogs and writing about how funny it is.

Thom Hartman was right, we must mock the enemy. This is the fight of our lives and I am proud to have coined Karl "Rat Fucker" Rove

2. Yes but we have to get people to check out the website out of curiosity or
because they heard from someone that it is side splitting funny. Obviously not funny to those of us who take a stolen election seriously, but we are trying to reach the audience that O'Reilly referred to as slackers. Anything we do to undermine Bush, Rove and Blackwell in the process is a plus.

Anyone download music and know how to put the MP3 of Loser 2.0 out there?

3. never
There's a reason democracy (and apparently all other forms of governance) did not endure. It's because they were less resistant to subversion than the corporate police state.

It's really very easy and like a message in a bottle the fun part is not knowing who will get the message

8. Yes I just got a pic of Damschroeder, I have to put his head on a body and

come up with dialog for his speech bubble. I need to stick with incidents directly related to what happened on Nov. 2 and right before with registrations (Sproul & Blackwell)

I need links for the Franklin County never delivered voting machines and I think I will pin Gahana precinct on Damschroeder also. Ant ideas for the dialog?

18. Here are some ideas, feel free to use or ignore:
On the never delivered voting machines: have the thugs blame the unions (seems like plausible thuggery)

re the Gahanna incident at World Harvest Mega church how about divine intervention especially since bu$h has a direct line to the big guy in the sky.

As far as links to the undelivered machines, your best bet is through Bob F.

how he disenfranchised Kerry voters and how he covered his ass by having an African American BoE employee as cover. Anyone remember that guys name?

On edit, I'd like to Photo Shop him in front of a Shooptronic voting machine. Anyone got a link? The manufacturer's name began with D.

I'll put the Gahana business in the narrator's voice.

10. constructive criticism
Certainly the 04 election was stolen, and certainly the situation with Rove offers an opportunity (though I'm not sure it isn't a distraction from DSM, Lott, Coingate, and other corruption). The images on bushcheated04 are clever and speak the truth. However, they appear to be geared toward people with a certain level of knowledge and skepticism. Somebody immersed in mainstream media lies, Dem or Puke, may get curious when they see the site on their dollar. Speech bubbles that have constructed statements and crude nicknames are not going to convince them of anything. The most damning quotes to use really came from their mouths. Didn't Jon Stewart hold a debate between candidate Bush of 2000 and Bush of 2004? The hypocrisy is so deep and would be funny if it didn't exact such a high price on so many real live human beings.
On first glance, bushcheated04 may come across as a rant. Maybe the most effectual approach would be based on the evidence that many will find shocking. I could be wrong, but there's one opinion.

11. I'm afraid that you are right about that
When I try to bring this issue up with "main stream" people I usually get a cold reception -- and that's with Democrats. Most people in this country are not ready to hear this information, IMO. So, to put it forth aggressively in most cases comes across as trying to throw a bucket of cold water on them.

I try to bring it up when I can. But in doing that I wait for opportune times, and I try to be as unaggressive about it as I can, in order to avoid at all costs the impression that I'm a whacko -- which believe me some people believe just because I've talked about this issue.

15. that is why we have to use parody. The super serious DUers and others
who work tirelessly to publicize this issue are not reaching enough people. Behind The Election: Bush Cheated 04 is about luring people with mean spirited snarky humor and in the 5-10 minutes it takes to read it you have a chance to convince the easily convinced (there are a lot of people who are easily convinced because they have been skeptical since 2000 Florida and that is African Americans) and get the skeptical thinking and clicking links. If you have only glanced at Bush Cheated 04 and not clicked on any of the links in the narration or the Cheater proof http://BushCheated04.com/links.html then you really have not seen how convincing it is. The majority of Americans do not know about Warren County, Ohio. Most never read NY Times & WaPo rebuttals of Swift Boat Liars. Very few people know about the RNC "dems will ban the bible" mailing to Arkansas and Virginia.

12. I think the problem is the domain name
People who aren't staring at the bill will remember "bushcheated" and not the 04 part (or was it 2004?), which means a potential hit for the RNC poseur site:

While a domain name may be short, it does not necessarily mean that it is simple. Some also combine numbers with letters, resulting in hard-to-remember domain names such as Click2Asia.com and Opus360.com. Combining names and numbers makes it much more difficult to recall and these domain names usually make poor brand names.

Don't select a domain name registration with the numeral "0", it's too easily confused with the letter "O".

14. The RNC has nothing on the BushCheated.com site...
That site simply says under construction. If you have the bill in your hand you can type the URL.

As far as publicizing the site there are lots of ways to do it. Sending it as a link in email and raving about how funny it is even though the super serious people who spend time in this forum don't think it is funny.

BushCheated04 is not that hard to remember.

13. I personally feel from my extensive GOTV activities before Nov 2
and immediately after the election during the recount period when I was glueing the Bush Cheated 04 image on bus stop shelters and utility poles in urban areas that the idea that Bush cheated both before and on Nov. 2 was readily accepted. Only Bush voters discounted it. We need to inform our base so they demand election reform. Also we really need to get the information out to the maximum amount of people and we can not expect them to read the Conyers report or to slog through statistical analysis. All the points I make in Bush Cheated 04 are backed up by links for those who want more information or are skeptical and need convincing.

One things dems and progressives keep failing to appreciate is the importance of mockery. The Daily Show is more effective than CSPAN for that reason.

As far as daming quotes from their own mouths, Blackwell and the RNC will never admit that they actively plotted to suppress likely democratic voters. They will continue to mock us as "sore losers" and throw up red herrings, ie. Mary Poppins and Dick Tracy were registered to vote in Ohio.

The super serious stuff regarding the stolen election has not been read outside of lefty web sites, blogs and forums. We do need to inform and continue to undermine this administration. This is not just about a stolen election and election reform. This is about creating a backlash around the entire GOP and any entity that supported them. That is why I started with Swift Boat Liars. And end with Rove.

With Rove in the news many people are hearing again about South Carolina and McCain. Shedding light on their reprehensible tactics and pointing out that they sought to suppress African American votes will help prevent the GOP from making inroads with AA voters.

A month before the election I wrote a rap/poem and created a flyer called

George W. Bush is a punk ass butch
Crony capitalist all about the rich,

On 9-11 he sat for 7 minutes like a dope,
While schoolkids read My Pet Goat

No WMD in Iraq you fool,
Iran got nukes, N. Korea do too.

Kerry punked Bush in each debate
Dumbass bush could not relate...

Nov. 2 is when I vote
Not for the dumbass who read My Pet Goat

This flyer was extremely popular with the urban demographic. They absolutely loved it and everyone wanted acopy to keep. Business hung it on their walls. Garndmothers toting grandkids were like, whatever it takes to get these youg guys and girls to actually vote now that we have them registered was fine with them. We live in profane times and we need to tailor our message to appeal to those who are not all about DU.

Hatred is a powerful motivator when it comes to getting people to the polls. That is something the GOP and hate talk radio are very aware of. We are foolish to discount it.

17. What about Vote Fraud 04: www.uscountvotes.org?
Edited on Sun Jul-17-05 04:17 PM by Stevepol
That's not too long and the web site is non-confrontational and could lead any visitor to do more investigating. The guys working on the statistics certainly have their bona fides (PhD's in stats)

Do I have the name of the web site right? It is .org and not .com, right?

19. Great for the super serious types who hang out on lefty web sites
and forums and are motivated to spend a lot of time reading really long treatises. I work with a whole bunch of liberals who all voted for Kerry and I could not get one of them to read the Conyers Report or any statistical analysis.

Kerry got 50 million votes. DU has 75,000 members. And this fourum has how many actively posting members?

It is going on 9 months since the election and publicizing election fraud has gone almost no where. A sports writer's blog on The Huffington Post was the most exciting thing this forum has seen in the last few months. The window for election reform is closing. Without lots of people clamoring for election reform it is unlikely to happen. And what do you have then?

I put a lot of time into creating BushCheated04.com because I realize the power of mockery.

Read this article by Thom Hartmann.

http://www.commondreams.org/views04/0817-13.htm

Cheney Speaks to the Reptile Brain
by Thom Hartmann

The simple reality is that issues framed in intellect will never trump issues framed in emotions. And to have maximum power, those emotions must include the limbic brain feelings of hope and idealism as well as the reptilian brain instincts for survival and safety.

Of course, issues must make sense to the thinking brain, but if presented in a way that misses the other two of our brains, they will never motivate people to walk into a polling place and pull a lever or mark a ballot.

Interestingly, the most powerful tool to hit all three brains simultaneously is good-natured ridicule, because there is no possible way to respond to it. Ridicule touches the thinking neocortex by referencing an issue, but also touches the limbic and reptilian brains, where our most lasting impressions are stored and feelings are anchored.

The only possible response to ridicule is logic, which only touches a third of our brains and thus always fails to undo the ridicule's emotional impact.

Even God is not immune, as Mark Twain wrote: "No God and no religion can survive ridicule. No political church, no nobility, no royalty or other fraud, can face ridicule in a fair field, and live." History demonstrates well the truth Czech author Milan Kundera wrote: "Mockery is a rust that corrodes all it touches."
