Need Election Results DUers to send their best Ohio stuff to Judge Jones
Since Nov. I have been saying I wish we could get Judge Nathaniel Jones involved in what happened in Ohio. For reasons I can't go into because it would be a hint to where I am employed I personally could not initiate that contact. A couple DUers did email him, but like a lot of older people (he is retired) we don't know if he checks his own email.

Well I just saw him walking down the street today and I engaged him in conversation. He thinks the GOP won OH by peeling off black votes in N. Ohio. I brought up Franklin County machine shorting, Warren County secret tabulation and C. Ellen Connaly but I did not want to talk too long standing on a street corner.

As an older person who doesn't understand computers I don't think he realizes what is involved in vote tabulation. But I think he could be persuaded. It is great that we have Conyers but Judge Jones is a highly respected civil rights figure and no one could accuse him of playing politics. I think if the facts were presented in a cogent manner he might be in a position to help or investigate since he is a lawyer.

So if DUers who are working on Ohio sent there best arguments to Judge Jones, I think he would read them.

BUT I think this needs to be done by snail mail.

Some background on Judge Jones:

Blank Rome LLP
2002 - Present
Senior Partner, Commercial Litigation Practice Group
United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit
1979 – 2002
U. S. Circuit Judge
National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP)
1969 - 1979
General Counsel
National Advisory Commission on Civil Disorders (Kerner Commission)
1967 - 1968
Assistant General Counsel
Northern District of Ohio at Cleveland
1960 - 1967
Assistant United States Attorney
Appointed by Attorney General Robert Kennedy
Fair Employment Practices Commission, City of Youngstown, Ohio
1956 – 1959
Executive Director

His efforts in civil and human rights have taken him to countries around the globe, and in 1993 he served on the team of observers for the first democratic elections in South Africa. Judge Jones is also a member of the advisory board of the Urban Morgan Institute for Human Rights.

I think this could be a really important ally and Blackwell could not disrespect Judge Jones.

1. Thanks rosebud
I've emailed someone else with experience with Ohio and S. African elections who might be interested in this.

2. Judge Jones really is an amazing man. Seeing him yesterday...
I could not believe how young he looked for being born in 1926.

One thing that all the activists crunching numbers and poring over precinct data can't accomplish is investigation.

We need investigators (since the FBI apparently is not interested) and lawyers not only use investigators but they also have access to data that laypeople do not.

If Judge Jones' assumption is that Kerry lost because in N. Ohio enough African Americans voted for Bush to make the difference then perhaps someone has the data to refute that point.

Also evidence ofinflated turnout in certain precincts and any malfeasance such as Texas Strike Force in Franklin County. Judge Jones is a champion of civil rights.

We also need Judge Jones to fight racist identification measures and to push for provisional ballots being counted county wide.
