Recount Dispute Goes Back to N.M. Court

State Supreme Court justices are scheduled Monday to hear arguments from lawyers for last year's Green and Libertarian presidential candidates who say the state wrongly handled their request for a recount.

Green Party presidential candidate David Cobb and Libertarian candidate Michael Badnarik asked for a recount of presidential ballots statewide in late November, saying there were problems with voting machines and counting of paper ballots. They submitted a deposit of $114,400 and contend that was the proper amount based on a formula in state election law.

Lawyers for Cobb and Badnarik contend that change in law is unconstitutional and is evidence the Legislature intended to give the board powers it did not have in 2004.

I'm still deeply peeved about Kerry promising to fight for our votes and then caving on Nov 3rd... But We Are Still Fighting for Counting every last vote ANYWAY! 11. Well, this is in Bill Richardson,'s ( D, Gov. NM) face!

He's the one who, with two others, set the $1.0 million plus recount charge (even Blackwell didn't have the nerve to do that in Ohio, $10 a precinct I believe).

What's up with Bill Richardson? I thought he was a Democrat. Oh, he's one of those "3rd way Clinton" Democrats. Maybe he was angeling for an invitation to party with Poppy Bush, a fashionable activity of "new" Democrats of late.

Thank God for the Green Party & the Libertarian Party, they are the true "democrats!"

And yea, me too, in re: Bill Richardson. I was disappointed in him back in November. Something doesn't seem right in New Mexico.

Some times you can see the picture from one piece of the puzzle. I think that this is one of these cases. I guess there are no more investigative reporters. This would be a great great story because of the question we both have.
