I heard a woman talking about that Diebold story!

4. That was me -- did I make any sense at all?

I was nervous and I read too much from the story. I sounded, probably, like an automaton. I felt like Hartmann cut me off to play the tape of Bev Harris & Howard Dean and when he turned on the tape I got disconnected (or he hung up on me).

When I called back to ask him to mention the fact that the Diebold insider confirmed the fact that it would only take one malicious person to steal an election (and that Homeland Security was aware of the problem and did nothing about it) he said he would pass that on, but then he did not mention any more about it.

I went to bed embarrassed and angry. :blush: :mad:

Then again, I am used to pontificating without interruption for 50-minute periods multiple times per day. :grr:

He did cut you off and start the Bev tape though which I think was unnecessary. The whole point of the story was that a Diebold guy came forward!

Better hacks will eventually be shown that are harder to mitigate than that one. The problem with that one is that there is a workaround whereby precinct totals can be compared to tabulator totals to find any discrepancies. This may not de done in all jurisdictions, but it could be and that's enough to keep e-voting going in its present unreliable form for years to come.

Think about it: All Diebold has to say is "we recommend that precinct totals be compared to tabulator totals before official results are announced" and they're off the hook! That's why this hack is silly. But the fact that a Diebold guy came forward is important!

6. I saw the story before I called the show - I hadn't

realized that Hartmann was subbing for Sam and Janeane -- it would have been great to get Janeane started talking about the Diebold mole - she would have gone on one long rant!
