Are right wingers getting suspicious of E-Voting Systems?
Edited on Mon Apr-03-06 12:51 PM by McCamy Taylor
Two recent stories make me wonder if the right wing--which has recently begun to notice that Bush and the Neo-cons do not live up to the conservative ideals of Barry Goldwater--has begun to get suspicious of E-Voting Systems.

First there was the Supreme Court race in Texas in which a conservative GOP candidate in the primary noted all sorts of irregularities like changing vote totals, more votes cast in a precinct than registered voters, recounts suddenly halted for no good reason, stuff like that.

http://www.bradblog.com/archives/00002592.htm

Here is my light hearted graphic rendition of the events:

http://www.grandtheftelectionohio.com/Flash/BackInTexas/BackInTexas.html

Obviously, E-vote fraud is supposed to be used only in the general election, since the press will ignore the complaints of Democrats. When conservative Republicans complain, their opinions get reported upon.

Which brings me to my second story. I have been wondering how long it would be before some conservative would notice that a Venezuelan Co. had bought Sequoia. Never mind that there are Venezuelans who hate Chavez same as there are Cubans who hate Castro. To some Americans, all Venezuelans are commies.

Well, here it is. An article about how Sequoia is Hugo Chavez's attempt to take over the America electoral system.

http://www.suntimes.com/output/sneed/cst-nws-sneed02.html

"The endshot: Per the Miami Herald: "The greater threat to our nation's security comes not from Dubai and its pro-Western government, but from Venezuela, where software engineers with links to the leftist anti-American regime of Hugo Chavez are programming electronic voting machines that will soon power U.S. elections.""

Oh, boy. If the right wing gets going with this one, Congress might have to sit up and take notice of Sequoia's recent hackability test. In which case, they couldn't very well ignore Diebold's.

1. No. The right wing knows that we are on to their scam.
The rightists are just "pre-empting" any doubts about the integrity of the voting systems as a means to take any doubts the public may have off of their minds.

2. Certainly Florida is not ignoring Diebold any more, see today's Miami H
Short, but sweet editorial in today's Miami Herald on Ion Sancho, backing Crist's investigation:

It concludes: Leon County voters shouldn't be penalized for having an election supervisor who's serious about protecting the integrity of their votes.

5. It, most importantly, gave them the Supreme Court.
Or you can say the Supreme Court Dec 12 2000 gave themselves the Supremem Court 2006 on behalf of the right wing.

6. One way to have them get involved is to get some Dem Senator

or Dem politican to manufacture 'our own voting machine'.

If Hagel can own/play a role in the ownership of a voting machine (ES&S), then we should get a Senator that Repubs despise to create a machine - Kennedy Clinton? Or Howard Dean?

Wanna be a salesperson? Want to program it? Want to be a technician? Want to design the logo?

Or what if, say, George Soros were to buy a signigicant chunk of Diebold or Sequoia stock? ("Sequoia"---What an insult to a magnificent tree.)

12. Only because there's some rumors that Hugo Chavez
has some links to some. It'd be nice if they got suspicious on principle, rather than that.

13. So when the Dems take both houses in Nov, the GOP will blame it on the
machines? And most people won't know that they've been stealing elections for several cycles now, so it will cast doubt on the legitimacy of OUR win.

I hate being so cynical, I just feel like they're setting the stage for their next move.

p.s. loved your graphic!
