Alderman: Election Day troubles could be part of 'international conspiracy'

One of Chicago's most powerful aldermen has a conspiracy theory for the voting problems experienced during the March primary. Alderman Ed Burke wants to know why the Chicago board of elections would pick a Venezuelan company to supply the city's new voting machines, a company Burke believes has the ability to rig an election for political gain.

Both the voting machine company and the board of elections are calling alderman Burke's suggestion of a conspiracy absurd. This happened during a city council hearing Friday on problems during last month's primary.
Alderman Ed Burke, whose wife just got appointed to the Illinois Supreme Court, took back the spotlight Friday at a wild city council hearing where Burke said the vote counting problems on primary election night may be part of an international conspiracy led by the president of Venezuela, who is engaged in a war of words with the Bush administration.

"We've stumbled across what could be the international conspiracy to subvert the electoral process in the United States of America ," said Ald. Ed Burke, finance committee chairman.

Just glad to see our politicians catching up.

I don't care how one comes to the realization that the outsourced voting systems are a danger to our democracy, just that they do realize.

The very idea that a foreigner could be in charge of a U.S. election is alarming, but no more so than Diebold Elections president O'dell saying that he was gonna make sure Ohio ended up casting its electorial college votes for bush.

But this episode, this Chavez influence, could be a tipping point for the masses. Now the pubbies are dragged into the issue due to their fearless leaders war of words against an owner of one of the companies who count the votes.

It's just the way they work. Accuse the left of "voter" fraud while doing it yourself (election fraud). Point the finger at the Ukraine while fixing elections here at home.

Chavez has made Venezuela far more democratic than it ever was before.

I understand Venezuela does use Sequoia machines WITH a paper trail AND open source software, unike Sequoia in the US.

The real deal with us not liking Chavez is that at the current price of oil, his country has the largest reserve in the world - and he doesn't want to bend over and be taken advantage of by the US, which I respect.

e-voting stuff no one would believe it because it's just too melodramatic.
As Thom Hartmann said, this isn't hidden; it's right out there in plain sight...all the "stunning upsets" that always favor one party, the glitches, the phantom votes, more votes than voters, etc etc. MSM has been reporting on that for years, just not too often. Now it's happening daily.

And now we have foreign ownership...how can we get them to get upset about Jeff Dean programming the software with all his felony convictions for computer fraud? Or maybe that wouldn't bother him....unless...Jeff is a DEMOCRAT! But he probably isn't.
