Help needed in GD, I opened a can of worms!

There are people who just don't get it, and since I really didn't want to start a flamefest, I am sitting back hoping some of yall more level headed folks can educate folks as to why their vote may be a waste of time.

2. Never try to teach a pig to sing
It wastes your time and annoys the pig.

I know, I just tried a couple of days ago and was scorched. lol

Seriously, I'm with you that a vote MAY be a waste of time, but I think the act itself is personally liberating.

3. I don't think you get it; you don't vote, they win. I know the
system is full of imperfections, and is being hacked to repugs' benefit, but that, to me, doesn't negate my responsibilty to vote for what I believe in. What would happen if we all stayed home instead, besides never hearing the end of it, and watching the repigs shove that in our faces the rest of our lives?

6. Until you fix the system, your vote's not going to count anyway...
...maybe you're the one that's not getting it. The system is not "full of imperfections"...it has been completely subverted to the benefit of the NeoCon Junta. That system has to be permanently fixed before your vote counts in any future election.

8. Did I say that I was giving up? No, I most certainly did not. But,...
...at least I understand what has to be the first step in eliminating the massive election fraud that took place in 2000, 2002, and 2004. This will most likely take place again in 2006 unless something concrete is done.

What is it that you don't understand about what I'm telling you? What is it about what I posted that caused you to respond in what I believe to be a VERY insulting manner?

You need to understand who your REAL enemies are, and save your anger for them.

4. I don't see a problem with your post

You asked a question many ask. And it brought up the answers many have for it.

I think that's pretty good.

5. people here are not going to let you give up
voting is simple...getting it counted requires our tenacity.....

this fight is only going to become harder...as bush gets put into a tighter corner...the real claws have not yet come out. We have to be willing to fight and hold our representatives feet to the fire.....and fight too

10. Sorry 'bout that
Oops, wasted another ten seconds, eh?

Interesting that the media from Indy has been at the forefront of covering this issue. But why waste your time?

13. WISH-TV
They forced Gannett's Indianapolis Star to cover the problems. Sorry about my snarky reply, but I have a reflexive negative attitude toward advising people not to vote regardless of the reason. I agree that we have a major problem with our voting systems. Cheers!!!!:)

12. At Least They Will Know How Many Votes They Had to Steal to "Win"
The only person who knows how many votes Bush and Kerry really got in Ohio is

and even he doesn't know how many were prevented from voting at all by his tactics.

but they probably do at least look at the real numbers before they change them.

15. Locking
The topic was locked in GD. I do not know why you think bringing it to another forum will make it any different this time.

Again, per DU rules that you agreed to:

Democratic Candidates and the Democratic Party

Constructive criticism of Democrats or the Democratic Party is permitted. When doing so, please keep in mind that most of our members come to this website in order to get a break from the constant attacks in the media against our candidates and our values. Highly inflammatory or divisive attacks that echo the tone or substance of our political opponents are not welcome here.

You are not permitted to use this message board to work for the defeat of the Democratic Party nominee for any political office. If you wish to work for the defeat of any Democratic candidate in any General Election, then you are welcome to use someone else's bandwidth on some other website.

Democratic Underground may not be used for political, partisan, or advocacy activity by supporters of any political party or candidate other than the Democratic Party or Democratic candidates. Supporters of certain other political parties may use Democratic Underground for limited partisan activities in political races where there is no Democratic Party candidate.
