Optical Scanners in Tulsa subject to recount in close election

In a City Council race last week, one district was decided by just 21 votes. The challenger (D) to the incumbent (R, who won), asked for a recount, since it was so close. A manual recount of that district was done, and the results were correct. There were some adjustments to the totals in both directions, but the overall numbers were correct.

The winner of the council seat is currently under investigation by the FAA, and is a well-known businessman in the community. The Democratic challenger is new to politics, so the fact that this race was so close in a heavily Republican area shows we're making progress!

Prior to the male Republican Mayor, we had a female Dem Mayor in office who did an OK job, but let some big economic things slip through to smaller cities in the county, instead of keeping them for Tulsa. So Tulsa missed out on the additional revenue, and the smaller towns in the metro area got a big boost in revenue.

That caused some ruffled feathers, which we're still recovering from.

I have high hopes that our new Mayor, Kathy Taylor, will do a good job. Her husband owns Thrifty/Dollar Car Rental, so there was a lot of personal money spent on her campaign, and she did have nice advertising, with a LOT of coverage.
