Rush Holt's HR 550 and Bev Harris

I wrote a summary of the online debate about the Holt Bill, and my take on it, and posted it on MyDD and and Daily Kos. The final section of my post is mostly a direct cut and pased of my comment in this DU thread, which is what inspired me to write the post in the first place.

I post on both Daily Kos and MyDD because I've found the level of discourse to be much better on MyDD, as well as the chances of a good post to get on the recommended list, but I like the comment threading system on Daily Kos better, and despite some badness, there are a lot of very knowledgeable people there whose comments I'd like to see. It's the view that if you take a small step forward, you deflate the movement's energy or the public's appetite for taking more and bigger steps. Things don't work that way. Victory begets victory. Steps forward are opportunities to build organization and coalition. They make the next steps smaller than they'd need to be now, which makes them easier. And they take nothing away from the energy of an informed, active grassroots movement that wants to do more."
