Clermont Democratic Party Chair Calls For Action — Call Ken Blackwell:

Dear Friends:

As many of you are already aware, we have been locked in a battle at the Clermont County Board of Elections since March 3rd to get our Deputy Director, Kathy Jones re-appointed.

The republican board members have created a 2-2 stalemate by voting against Kathy. The issue has been sent to the Secretary of State 3 times.

-snip-

On April 7th we received a letter signed by Assistant Secretary of State Monty Lobb, "directing" the Board to submit another name for deputy director, other than Kathy Jones'.

-snip-

I urge each and everyone on you to take just a moment and place a phone call to the office of Ken Blackwell in Columbus. The toll free number is 877.767.6446.

Ask for Mr. Blackwell, Monty Lobb or Judy Grady. Tell them that you demand Democratic oversight in the upcoming primary and tell them you want Kathy Jones to provide that oversight.

Please act now! Time is running out.

Regards,

Dave Lane
Chair
Clermont County Democratic Party

5. It seems to me it can only help if we let Blackwell et al know the issue
has some visibility. But I'm from S. Florida and don't have any inside info so that is just my opinion. I just sent an email to the Clermont County Democratic Party people to ask what they think and will post if I get a reply.

6. This happened in Hocking as well when (HERO) Sherole Eaton was fired.
Guess Blackwell thinks he has the same inherent powers as the pResident.

7. Party Chair says out of state calls to Blackwell would be beneficial
Here is his email to me:

Thank you for your interest and concern in the situation at the Clermont
County, Ohio Board of Elections. To answer your question, I believe it would
be beneficial to our efforts for anyone, no matter what state you live in to
contact the Ohio Secretary of States office.
It would do Mr. Blackwell and his staff well to understand that Clermont
County, the state of Ohio and the nation is watching him.

I'm not sure that the toll free number initially provided will work from
outside the state of Ohio. You have have to refer to his website to get a
workable phone number.

Best regards,

Dave Lane
Chairman
Clermont County Democratic Party

So, by all means, let's give the SOS office a call and let them know we're watching.

Emphasis added by eomer.
(I wouldn't normally post a private email but I think it's appropriate in this case and that Dave Lane would approve.)

8. I called and also sent an email.
I called the toll free number, 877.767.6446 (it works fine from out of state), and left a message on Judy Grady's voicemail. Her title is apparently Director of Elections at the state level.

Then I sent an email by way of the SOS website. Here's their email form:
http://www.sos.state.oh.us/ContactUs.aspx?Code=default

Hopefully 6 or 7 of us (as Brad would say) will leave them a message with our thoughts.
