Duval Agrees To State Or Federal Oversight Of November Election

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Duval County's elections chief promised that the next election will be problem-free and has agreed to have state or federal oversight of the Nov. 7 general election.

During Tuesday's primary, four precincts in mostly black areas ran out of optical scan ballots for Democrats. Other problems included wrong addresses on voter information cards, incorrect ballots for absentee voting and a Web site malfunction that delayed election night results.

Duval County Supervisor of Elections Jerry Holland said any mistakes made Tuesday will be corrected for the general election.
