Only OH R-Party Chair Bob Bennett has NOT resigned from Cuyahoga County BOE
Third elections board member resigns
Posted by Joan Mazzolini March 27, 2007 14:10PM
Categories: Breaking News
A third member of the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections resigned today, leaving just one holdout to fight an attempt by Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner to oust the entire board.

The latest to depart is Sally Florkiewicz, a former chairwoman of the county Republican Party. Her term was to expire in 2012. Two Democrats -- Edward Coaxum and labor leader Loree Soggs -- resigned last week.

The remaining board member is Chairman Bob Bennett, chairman of the Ohio Republican Party. Brunner has begun a process aimed at firing Bennett. She has cited the conviction of two elections workers on recount-rigging charges.

1. The last firewall to Republican corruption.
I'm sure he's hanging in at the behest of the RNC.

2. Party Chairs Should NOT Serve on Boards of Elections
this is why Ohio is so corrupt.

In North Carolina, no election officials, BOE members, or State Board of Elections
members may be involved in political campaigns or serving in political positions.

No wonder Ohio has so many problems.

5. We still have a full stack of R's in our courts (esp OH Supreme Court) and
the state legislature to overcome, but with Brunner overseeing elections and Dann as AG, we're headed in the right direction.

I'm still mad at Sherrod Brown for his vote for the Military Commissions Act (ie Habeas Corpus) and his failure to denounce his vote after the election. I wrote him a letter and his reply doesn't appear to have regretted undoing an established legal practice since the year 1215.

Nice work on the banners. I have a homemade one that says:

RIP Habeas Corpus
1215-2006

on my car, would you consider making a professional one? (Although I think a lot of folks don't get it. I had a young guy w a Strickland bumpersticker, read it, give me a dirty look and shake his head.)

:hi:
