"Democrats: DuPage elections have Republican bias"

It's easy, in a county where 100 percent of the elected officials are Republican, to believe there must be some sort of bias and favoritism exhibited by the ruling party officials.

That's what local Democrats claimed this week, when they said, among other things, that the DuPage Election Commission has Republican cronies on the payroll and favored Republicans in recent ballot disputes.

The commission answered the charges, saying the ballot disputes were resolved fairly and that it also has a Democratic crony on the payroll. You can read more in Friday's Sun.

What's your impression of the election process in DuPage? Do you think it's on the up-and-up? Do you trust that elections are being conducted in a legal and fair manner? Or do you believe that illegal and unethical practices are being allowed to happen?

1. You've got to be kidding...

Dupage county is the only county in the Chicago suburbs that is Republican. Period.
I've even known people who are registered Rep. that have been knocked off their list. Give me a break.:crazy:
If you are truly concerned about voting integrity, look at Chicago, Cook County. 100% Sequoia operated and run. Granted, they do carry the state election with their democratic numbers...interesting, don't you think?

When looking at any type of election fraud or "glitches" within the voting equipment, I do not base my opinion within any party lines. Granted, I might joke about the bias in which one may present in such a question, which you no doubt did.
Within my reply, I pointed out the truth. Why not direct your response those facts presented? It would make this conversation more interesting if you could look at it from a neutral position.

7. That are read by scanners

Paper ballots are inserted into a scanner made by Sequoia. Those votes are retained in a memory box in the back of the scanner. Need to know more?
Real simple here...you may vote on paper, but the rest is all handled electronically.

and i am an election judge. the vote is audited by illinois state law. we pass.

i know how it works. i just resent the insinuation that chicago is still the armpit of democracy. you may know what machines we use, but that would be about it.

6. Please encourage DuPage County Dems to...

...have their candidates take the Standing For Voters pledge:

I, _________________, pledge to use my candidacy, whenever feasible, to advance the preservation of democracy. I will officially challenge the results of the election as provided by law if the combination of election conditions, incident reports, and announced election results calls into question the reliability of the official vote count. Should another candidate be declared the winner in my race, I will wait until all valid votes are counted and all serious challenges resolved before conceding defeat.

The pledge form is available on the Standing For Voters website. The County Dems who are concerned could easily contact all of their candidates running in the county.

Voters can also contact the candidates and ask them to pledge. There's a page on the website that tells voters how to find candidates' contact information and gives clear instructions about how to approach candidates for pledges. This sounds intimidating, but is actually pretty easy and even fun, as well as useful.
