although i have no doubt that the thugs will do, and are doing, everything in their power to steal this election, i want you all to remember this- we the people of chicago, and our many guests, on election night, will be right there on the teevee when they announce the results. we will be bigger than the crowd in denver today, estimated at 100,000. i suspect we will have twice that many. and let me tell you, if they try to sell a lumpy grumpy win, we will not buy it.
this ain't cincinnati. this is the big city. our 5 broadcast and several cable channels will be watching, including wgn, which is seen all over the country. our many radio stations will be listening, including wbez, the public radio guys who brought you "this american life". there will be nowhere to hide. this time they will be under the spotlight.
among the crowd will be hundreds who have traveled to every state since february, talking to voters. we know. we saw it all first hand. we know that the people want obama.
there is just no way that we will accept anything but an obama win. we will go from a happy family to a ***incendiary adjectives deleted*** mob at the sound of the words "president mcsame"
this time the pols will not decide whether to fight or concede. we the people will. i promise you. we have your back. and i have no doubt that where we lead, our candidate will follow.

My daughter and her 3 friends from Chicago were here this weekend and I know you are right. These young women look at me with disbelief when I say it may be stolen. They will not accept it. I have been working in Jackson, MI and waves of people have come to help us canvas from Chicago and they look at me with that same look. I grew up in New Haven, I was born with my fists up, but you guys in Chicago are something else. And Barack is yours. I believe you. I finally believe that this is going to happen and I am sobbing. And if AL Franken wins I am going to be a puddle on the floor!!!


They will not steal it, NOT THIS TIME!!!!!

5. i have logged some miles, but

i know many people who have logged thousands and thousands. they gave the 9th cd, which is a big chunk of chicago, iowa. which means at least a 3 hour drive, sometimes closer to 5, just to cross the border into "our" state. people were going every other weekend starting right after the last primary. so many people wanted to do it that by about the second weekend after the conventions they had started going every weekend. after the convention, they started renting busses.

but really the point of my post was to say just how smart this campaign is to spend election night with the people who made it happen. not 100 of them, not 1000 of them, not 10,000, probably not even 100,000. a city full of them. those that are not out there will be watching. if they try to steal it, no one in chicago will have to be convinced that elections can be stolen. we will just come together. how smart of them to know that he may need a citizen's army. and to give him one.
