LEWISBURG — Election officials Monday in Greenbrier County halted the canvassing of last week’s general election after a discrepancy of more than 300 votes was found in totals from last Tuesday’s unofficial count.

“When all the ballots for early voting were tabulated Tuesday night, we came up with 2,777,” Livesay said. “But now we believe that about 340 votes may not have been counted. I am unsure how to explain why.”

“I’m disappointed, to be honest with you. I haven’t felt comfortable all week and I just had some kind of feeling that something was not right and to have this happen just reaffirms it,” Childers said. “I’m not confident that I have won this election and I can’t believe that in this day and age our county could go this long and we still don’t know who the winner is.”~snip~
This election snafu will not be blamed on hanging chads, but most likely will be the result of a high-tech problem dealing with the (ES&S) voting machine’s “flash cards.”~snip~
