Take this poll:
Release the Ballots?
http://survey.constantcontact.com/survey/a07e2kap53yfyq64eyv/startBackground:
The city of Aspen is refusing to let e-voting activists Harvie Branscomb and team
conduct an independent review of Aspen's May muni election.
The city says that turning over the ballots would violate the secrecy of the ballot.
Thats bull because if a candidate had challenged one of the contests in that election,
the ballots WOULD have been recounted by the public and in view of the public and the media.
The secrecy of a ballot is only revealed if a voter themselves shows their own ballot to someone,
thereby indicating whose ballot it is, or if the ballot has an identifyer on it.
Neither are legal and not the same thing as opening a ballot box and reviewing a batch of ballots.
The city of Aspen plans to destroy the ballots after a period of time.
Thanks
