Another Sarasota Screwup, Sample ballots tell voters to use ink that scanners can't read

Another Sarasota Fl election screw up - Sample ballot tells voters to use ink scanners cannot read

Sarasota Election Supervisor Kathy Dent was aware that the Diebold OSX optical scanners did not consistently read blue ink. She knew this before the Venice Florida election that was held on Nov 3.

But what does the sample ballot for Venice Voters say? It says
"Use only the marker provided or a blue or black pen."

THE DIEBOLD OSX DOES NOT READ BLUE INK OR #2 PENCIL

See the sample ballot below

We don't have time right now to outline Sarasota Florida's inglorious failures, just google Sarasota FL 13 Jennings Buchanon or "smoothing filter" + Sarasota and learn how Kathy Dent ignored the warnings by the vendor back in 2006. She wasn't worried then, she isn't worried now.

1. IF the scanner can't read the votes; it is that much easier to give the results the PTB want

2. It should be against the law to give voters instructions that
will cause their votes to not be counted.

4. Clever, if you know the party of the voter
you give them the appropriate colored pen. I've used a blue ink pen to fill in a ballot before - same day they tried to stop my son from voting (first time voter). He was not having it, so they sat down and handed him the ballot, but who knows if either one was properly scanned.

5. Do these machines meet the VVSG spec? Does FL law call for the machines to meet that spec?

I'd figure that the error rate and the Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) rate would be at issue.

6. do any machines meet those specs, and
Florida does not require federal certification. Seems like this state does alot of beta testing.
