This guy's death was very timely.

RFK Jr. is quoted near the end:

1. Ohio vote counting 04 stunk to high heaven.

Kerry shd have stuck his neck out and let his supporters insist on a thorough audit or recount there, or at least an accounting for the numerous anomalies and strange circumstances.

2. Hear! Hear! That one was surely stolen, and now the whole election system is

in even worse shape, with ES&S's buyout of Diebold, giving ES&S (worse than Diebold as to far rightwing connections and secrecy) an 85% monopoly on U.S. voting systems.

Look out, friends! This is going to be a rough ride, I'm afraid--and it's not going to get better until we have restored transparent vote counting, as a first step to restoring our democracy!

3. The election of a dem majority and Barack Obama has

stopped the momentum to get the election system cleaned up. In Obama's books he condemns the "conspiracy theorists" who thought the 2004 election was stolen. Our system is broken beyond hope currently....MY hope, anyway. I just don't see how there will be enough momentum to get the whole thing cleaned up.

The republicans and their friends, "the terrorists", won: they drowned our government in a bathtub of corruption.

I just came across a troubling incident that Bob Woodward reports in his new book. Very troubling.

On page 344, Woodward describes the doings at the White House in the early morning hours of Wednesday, the day after the '04 election.

Apparently, Kerry had decided not to concede. There were 250,000 outstanding ballots in Ohio.

So Kerry decides to fight. In fact, he considers going to Ohio to camp out with his voters until there is a recount. This is the last thing the White House needs, especially after Florida 2000.

So what happened?

James Carville gets on the phone with his wife, Mary Matalin, who is at the White House with Bush.

"Carville told her he had some inside news. The Kerry campaign was going to challenge the provisional ballots in Ohio -- perhaps up to 250,000 of them. 'I don't agree with it, Carville said. I'm just telling you that's what they're talking about.'

"Matalin went to Cheney to report...You better tell the President Cheney told her."

Matalin does, advising Bush that "somebody in authority needed to get in touch with J. Kenneth Blackwell, the Republican Secretary of State in Ohio who would be in charge of any challenge to the provisional votes." An SOS goes out to Blackwell.

It really is scary. What is also scary is this article has to appear in Maxim. Leaving aside the mysterious death, what about letting the public know about "man-in-the-middle" software ?

It is stuff like this that reveals just how free our press isn't.
