Here we go again! Crucial Precincts Still Using Touchscreens. Good-bye Sestak?

Brad Blog as usual is the bearer of bad tidings. If there has ever been a symbol for the ineptness of the MSM, this issue is it. Turns out that some of the key venues in the upcoming primaries in PA and elsewhere will be using the ES&S Ivotronic touchscreen to record and count votes.

Pittsburgh's WTAE filed a report last week with a ring of exhausting familiarity --- at least to long time readers of The BRAD BLOG. This one stars, as usual, both an open, unsecured door to the warehouse, and an election official --- in this case, Allegheny County Pennsylvania's Election Division manager, Mark Wolosik --- claiming he's "seen" no problems before, so everything is just dandy, nothing to worry about when it comes to his support of the use of 100% unverifiable electronic voting systems by his county's voters

1. PA is headed for a real meltdown

They eventually will see a Carteret CO NC style meltdown or a FL 13 type undervote.

PA has had some serious issues of undervoting, of unbelievable proportions.

4. And officials will explain it away as pollworker or voter error...

No problems here in Pennsylvania, our machines are all tested and certified and when they fail it is because of those dumb pesky pollworkers and voters, you know. ;-)

And yes actually in PA we've already had a HUGE meltdown, 12,000 undervotes with 80% undervote rates in some precincts, on the Unilect Patriot in 2004. After citizen outcry that machine was decertified for PA in 2005 and promptly replaced with more touchscreens in 2006. Go figure.

Fortunately when the WINvote DRE was decertified in 2008, two of the three counties that had to replace them went with paper ballots -- and mainly because of citizen involvement and pressure.

The continued use of DREs here is not for want of citizens doing our best to get rid of them.
