Good mid-morning, all y'all. I hope you are enjoying this quiet and colorful Sunday morning on the cusp of early autumn, wherever you are.
We all have our rituals -- a morning quart of coffee, checking email and the on-line news feeds, petting the dogs. For many of us here, those rituals include checking the daily voting news summaries posted here by WYVBC. That almost-daily summary says more about the continued perilous state of the democratic process on our planet than anything else. It also allows us -- each of us -- to keep track of what's happening in our own states, and an instant opportunity to weigh in via the links to local media.
As many of you know, what is happening in Shelby county, TN is -- and should be -- in the news and on everyone's radar re: election integrity. After almost two months, the story is finally gaining traction, though at least one media outlet has been on the case from the get go. As a result of WYVBC's good work, I have had much of the local Memphis coverage at my fingertips each morning and along with it, the opportunity to participate in the dialog. It is heartening to me that the supporters of free, fair and verifiable elections are speaking up in Tennessee. Our voices, in our state and your own, really depend on the information treasure trove that ER/DU and the daily voting news summaries allow.
Thanks so much, WYVBC, for what you do to help us here in the Orange State protect and preserve our voting rights. My thanks to DU for continuing to provide us this powerful Election Reform forum. This thread invites others here to give WYVBC a shout-out and to discuss your own efforts to maintain what remains our most important issue -- basing our government's power and legitimacy on the consent of the governed.
