Let me say that the transition was planned, and much needed.
I just was spread too thin in the voting movement. I haven't had a life of my own for years.
I forgot how to have fun! Never had time for it.
I almost even forgot the name of my favorite adult beverage.
The voting news is still going out, and if someone has time, they can copy and paste it
to ER, just like I did for about 16 months. The news is at
http://votingnews.blogspot.com I started looking for a new editor months ago, at first someone independent like me,
but those didn't pan out for them. So I asked VV.org if they would take over.
They have the resources, and they did. Thankfully.
VV should be doing the voting news.
When John Gideon passed away, the e-voting movement had the breath knocked out of it.
Someone had to push on, because after all, John didn't do all this work for us to just up and quit.
Did he? NO!
Sean will do a fine job. He's a hell of a guy. Sean has filled in for me before, around when my Mother passed away. and other times. Give him time to settle in and let him make the VN his baby. There's no automating the work for VN - it is plain flat out scut work plus you have to figure out what really belongs there.
Verified Voting is great too, they wrote a big part of my story - they have provided the support and advice that helped NC get things done. Couldn't have done it without them.
We have to keep on, I'm just refocusing on research and writing, now that I will have the
time to do it - again. Its what I used to do before Voting News.
To the folks in NC, this means that I'm back working on NC issues, and its sorely needed.
Photo ID is going to be proposed and probably passed in our new first time in 112 years
Republican majority state legislature.
NC has issues:
The E-voting movement seems frustrating, but its what we do. We are each gardeners, doing our
part to plant democracy, pull the weeds, fertilize the crops, and harvest the crops. It never stops.
My mission continues to be election integrity or transparency, and increasing and protecting the voting franchise, even if I'm pulling back from one segment of the work, the VN.
Once I get my creative energies revved back up, I'll be writing articles and putting out reports,
once again.
I hope that the ER will continue to be a swirling stew of muck raking, keeping up a time honored tradition.
I send my love and encouragement to you all, hear now?
Sincerely,
WYVBC
