Ok ER Forum Gurus: Our Last Chance

I have a feeling that is we don't get reform done now, we never will.
(Yeah, I've got a wee bit of optimism left)

So what do we do?

My favorite, most simple reform would be that all federal office ballots are cast on paper and hand counted.

But if, even at the state level, legislators don't seem to be terribly interested in finding out who's winning and losing our elections, there isn't much we can do, is there?

I don't know how many people we have left that are willing to fight.

I haven't much left in me. But damn, we did have some success. Lots of laws got changed around the country. We got real close to a real fix, and given that ES&S and Diebold hated us we done real good.

Is there anything simpler than paper-hand-eye for federal elections?

4. Simple but not enough

This is simple and we should have a way of verifying the ballots by hand that the public can understand and trust but it won't be enough to change the things we need to change. We also have to have a sincere way of addressing the issues starting with the basics that everyone can understand.

Quick easy answers can be an important part of the solution and they're easy to act on but we should always remember that we need to be prepared to continue following up; as I suspect you intended but we need to take one step at a time.
